Ok, weirdest thing:

So I applied to this very froufy writers' conference called Bread Loaf, because my adviser told me I should. I put the application in the mail on the scholarship postmark deadline (because that's how I roll). My poetry manuscript (I applied in both fiction and poetry) was made up of about half poems from this project I'd been working on for about...

This is crazy. The way you wrote this, I could feel my heartbeat increasing as I neared the end of it. Well written.

and of course it was orchestrated....that's how the world works. wink
belljar:
That's kinda awesome news. Very interesting coincidence indeed. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

The reading went really well. We played to a packed house, which was pretty awesome since our publicity was totally homegrown.

In other news: yeah, not much. I feel like something exciting is on the horizon...and just feeling that way is putting a little spring in my step.

Right after Super Tuesday one of my aunts sent an email to all the family addresses she...

Yeah, my whole "law school work ethic" is starting to backfire on me already. Instead of being more focused on my studies, I am already starting to burn out, and I am only 3 weeks into the semester! I think I should probably start partying more. Although that is a pretty relative term these days.
malloreigh:
i choose to just be "me" and have all of my stuff collected on my website. being one or the other is for suckers!

This is what the big 2-7 feels like, eh?

Good thing I'm not a rock star.

Over a month and no update. Not as though my life has been uneventful; the opposite, I guess.

I just came back from Chicago and am leaving for a four-day camping trip/service project at Yosemite on Sunday.

A few weeks ago I read on a panel about Bi and Trans inclusion in the LGBTetc community. My piece was about being riding my scooter in the...

I decided to ride my scooter in the Dyke March because that will prevent me from getting drunk and by extension being wrecked the next day at work.

Maybe I will meet a nice girl to ride on the back.

thanks a LOT Esme. I always feel like a bit of a bastard soliciting criticism, but I was dead sure i'd get something valuable out of you, and I wasn't wrong. It's funny that you mention the importance of reading poetry aloud - the other day I was trying to think of one thing I'd tell a reader if I could, and all I could come up with was "read it out loud".
so thanks. I definitely know what you mean about the breaking up of words; it can be fairly gimmicky, and I've been warned off of it before.
I really appreciate your thoughts, Esme.
cornink:
hey!

i'll check those dates and get back to you.

FAQ (just the one): I will most likely read from a short story about a lawyer...I keep saying he's neurotic but as I think about it he might actually be manic. Then again, isn't neurosis just a blanket term for any mental instability...

Hey, I really want to make it to this reading. Is the building accessible?
_sarah_:
Yeah... I've started labeling them in a way that will amuse me and my friends on moving day: "Oh look, more books!" and "Yup. You guessed it. Books."

I was tired of writing "books" over and over. tongue
