I'm hardly a master when it comes to gaming consoles (I never even owned the original x box) and I still use my PS2 as a DVD player...but! I got a Wii console and I havent' been disappointed. If you're into Mario and RPGs especially. Though there aren't too many "gore" games for the Wii, and the graphics aren't as good as other systems as I'm sure you're aware.
I know the coffee shop you mentioned. I work at Santa Clara University so the coffee shop is just around the corner. I've been there a few times but never really hang out there.
