Wow, it's been almost two years since I did any journal shit.
What's new? Let's see. I'm running the kitchen at a casual dining joint with owners who have a very "hands-on" attitude with all the benefits and drawbacks that brings (being polite here). It's a little draining (again being polite).

So I successfully completed my Red Seal courses and tests and am now all powerful. Or at least I have my chef papers which is kind of the same thing. Started a new job where I'm actually involved in making new recipes and re-designing the menu. Sort of a nice change of pace from the chaos I was working with before.

Well, my wife and I just got back from the doctor and it's now official, we're having a baby. Well she's having the baby really, let's be honest. She's just over 3 months pregnant and we got to hear the heartbeat today. It's pretty fucking exciting and has me a little freaked out (in a good way). I'm pretty stoked.

Well today is one of the worst days of my life. We just discovered yesterday that one of our cats, Genghis, was born with a liver condition that flared up finally after over 10 years of perfect health. She went downhill fast with her liver crapping out in under a week. The surgery required to help her would probably kill her so we've decided rather...
