You mean to tell me that my time is only worth 10-11 bucks an hour? Even if I did do something that was Psychology related (my undergrad degree) I'm still in the same price range.
10 an hour = 20800 a year. before taxes.
I have 11 years of working experience. $11 isn't even the most I've made. I make more than that at my current job.
just in case it isn't obvious. I'm looking for a new job. Had an interview today. I think they'll offer me a job, but its only for $10 an hour.
positives to this job
1. lots of free porn
2. its closer to me than the job I have now. So I'll save on gas
3. its 40 hours a week guaranteed
4. I can renegotiate my pay in a few months.
negatives.
1. its less than I make now. Even though my check for this job will be bigger, i'll be working MORE.
2. its a startup. They could fold in a few months and I'll be SOL
3. They didn't mention anything about benefits.
I'd probably like the job, but my motivation for staying isn't going to be strong if the money isn't right. I was looking for more in the range of 12-15, so I can start chopping into some bills and save some money. But with this job (or these two, assuming I'm only offered 10 an hour) I'd only be making like $75-100 more a month in take home. And I'll lose my 401k benefit (my current job gives me 3% of what I donate... free money)
decisions, decisions.
I'll have a call back tomorrow. And another interview next week (with a job I want more) but I'm guessing the pay will be running the same as the others....
whoever said that a Bachelors is the road to more pay is a fucking liar.
