INTELLIGENT DESIGN AS THE DEATH OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROCESS?

Yes, I think so. I just watched a program in which a proponent of intelligent design, and a professor of [biological?] sciences were debating their opposing views. I felt myself panicking slightly whenever the proponent of intelligent design spoke. He was very articulate and level-headed, but I felt uneasy whenever he posited that one has to...

So am I to assume that you saw this "how to build a fake glass bottle" and yet still didn't make me one to use as a joke in front of my former co-workers? What's next? Will you refuse to fulfill my food requests for Thanksgiving Day?! blackeyed

I can see you pulling away someone's chair. It's just a shame that the person wasn't Afterbirth. Ah, c'est la vie, que sera sera, and so forth... whatever
afterbirth:
I could do that.
It'll have to get in line though.
But yeah, remind me in a coupla days.

I've never seen "Death in venice"...
but i read about it on IMDB, and it sounds pretty bleak..
have you seen it?
so uuhh.. i guess that makes two somewhat creepy films shot over there right?
Now i'm wondering if Dario Argento ever shot any of his horror flicks in venice?
holagatita:
I've noticed that Mike has some weird shit going on in his SG also. Mine is mostly pretty good, except sometimes I can't get to a friend from the "friends" page, I have to find them some other way.

Vinnie & Gloria eh? I can see why you didn't bother to change their names! So cute! I can't wait to meet them!
My cat, and all of my cats I've had as an adult have been indoor cats. Just about every cat we had when I was growning up got hit by a car. frown
I used to volunteer for PAWS and we had a whole sheet full of reasons why people should keep their cats indoors, but some people just don't care, or can't be bothered. Me? I like having a clean, healthy, flea-free pet, and minimal vet bills!
Here's a not very good picture of my baby Boo....she will turn 9 the end of this month.

Have a great weekend, I'm off to San Francisco! wheeeeee

CHOC-A-BLOC PHOTO SUPER TERRIFIC HAPPY HOUR

Okay, how's 'bout some pictures and respective captions since I want to put up something new but don't feel like being witty and/or deeply introspective? Hyah we go!

The last Spielerfrau show I went to was at Mercury Lounge -- "which I hate" (said in the voice of David Brent, of course). It was a sleepy Sunday and...

IF NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, THIS MOTHER SHOULD BE SHOT

No, no, there's nothing violent here, friends! No shootings, stabbings, or beatings today. Just some wacky, zany, kooky inventions and products that do not benefit mankind at large, and although they serve a very narrow purpose indeed, are just so damn fun to spend money on.

I already posted this first one on...

Because I know some people just don't want to read about the tragedies of our daily existence, I put the following article about the recent school shooting in Colorado as a spoiler. Now you don't have to read it unless you want to.

Mixing different lines of text is fun. For instance, I now believe that you're a fan of strawberry cupcakes with sphincter icing. Whatever the hell that is...biggrin

If we're doomed thanks to a supervolcano, I'm taking a full week off work with a fake sickness, consequences be damned!

Do you recall how Jerry's cousin pulled off one of Tom's whiskers? That's GOTTA hurt.

Very nice weaving of the Jackass and Simpsons references there! Such lovely memories of the Wigsphere and Nelson's fondness for Andy WIlliams, indeed.

I saw a syndication episode of The Simpsons yesterday that I hadn't seen during its network showing(s). Quite nice when that happens. biggrin

That is horrifying!
about the crash that is..
i think of death pretty much everyday and certainly dont consider it a morbid subject, just one that casually ties in with the subject of life itself i guess.
I work with death and sickness everyday too...
a lot of people forget that (because i work at an animal hospital)
but when you are around it all the time (with animals of course moreso than people)
it brings it to the front of your mind pretty much constant...
and now with my oldest cat getting up there in years, i find myself trying to "emotionally prepare" myself for it..
but thats kind of silly, because no matter how much we try to prepare for the loss of a loved one, we still are never quite "ready" for it are we?
i always thought i would either die in a car accident or probably lung cancer (my own doing of course)
i just hope i dont die alone in a nursing home surrounded by strangers.
Sometimes i'll come home from work and drink myself in a stupor from having to deal with back to back grieving families who had to put their pets down, now mind you , like i said ... i pretty much see it everyday, but sometimes we'll have these days when "BAM!".. its one after another surreal
its gets a bit mentally exhausting sometimes..
damn, that was long.. sorry!

Oh my God, not Coney Island again! whatever

Yep, it's true. I was invited to join Afterbirth, Anaxarete, their little boy, and FancyD for a trip to Coney Island this Saturday. The weather had been forcast to be crappy, but it was gloriously sunny and warm. I was happy to tag along, especially since they would drive by my house and pick me...

I was thinking, I've been doing the old fill-my-journals-with-digital-pictures schlock a lot lately, and I wanted to return to relaying interesting news items from respectable news sources. So here is my very important, engaging, in-depth reportage on current events:

ShellyMC, Dorwayin, FancyD, Afterbirth, Anaxarete, and I (and let's not forget A & A's cutest-little-button-boy Wave!) met up in the East...

I took the day off from work today to attend some friends' quickie 1 Centre Street wedding. For all of you non-New Yorkers, that means one of those government building/Justice of the Peace weddings where the people getting married usually go back to work afterward. That's how my husband and I got married, almost three years ago. Instead of an American-Irish union, though, this one...

For whatever it's worth, I'll be able to give you a first-hand report about GoCars come late October. Friends of mine are to be married in October and will be honeymooning in San Francisco. Since I wasn't able to attend the wedding, I decided to catch up with them at the tailend of their 7 days in the Bay Area. Yes, yes, I know that that could appear to be horning in on their horny time, but do keep in mind that they've been living together for years now. Thus, they should have their nuptial nookie when they first arrive.

The record was ruined, but it didn't reach the point of melting onto another surface. Years later, I was able to get a tape of the melted record, but it just never really replaced the feeling of loss I'd created with my youthful absent-mindedness. tongue

No spinach pies in a year? eeek What kind of life is one without spinach pie??
fancyd:
Nice new pic, looks cool. Do they have those lights like that everynight at ground zero, or was it just today?

Nice to meet you BTW ! You are so incredibly cute in person and plus anybody who can pimp wrap like that is cool in my book ;-)

Labor Day 2006 has come and gone. The beach season in New York is officially closed, and the collective mindset has already redirected itself toward thoughts of autumn and battening down the hatches. The weather here had been dark, cool, and rainy for almost three weeks, so all I could ask for was at least one day during this long weekend in which I could...

maybe you could meet up with us then?
or if not, maybe monday evening when you get out of work?

and you (if you want) can give us yours biggrin
surlymike:
Ah, but, Corpy, the theoretical Lebanese situation you describe doesn't seem to have an upside. I'm trying to give a tough question here! tongue Yet I suppose that it's fair that you didn't answer my question since I hadn't answered yours. biggrin

Bumbershoot is, apparently, named as such since the end of summer is supposed to herald the return of the rain. In reality, though, sunny weather is still quite common in western Washington in early September and this year's festival was no exception. Aside from haze in the air (which supposedly came from forest fires elsewhere in the area), the weather conditions could scarcely have been more summer-like for this year's festival. HolaGatita even has a few excellent pictures of Debbie Harry and roller derby girls. Ask her to post them and she might just do as such. She likes you.

Sorry that the YouTube wasn't working for you...but, if you commit the entire Young Ones series to memory, it will become a moot point, anyway.

Why is spinach pie soooooo freaking good??
