But kinda fun too...
I visited my extra special lady friend at VH on Wednesday to hound her about what's actually wrong with her. Basically I can pinpoint the lack of information to a bad case of doctor-vagueness (their fuzzy little heads being just as fuzzy as their handwriting apparently) but for whatever reason she needs her operation and is remaining brave and thinking about the fun things in life like tattoos, her housemates hardcore porn collection and overseas trips.
It was a beautiful sunny and surprisingly windless day at Victor, we had pizza outside this restuarant (the Zucca: pumpkin, ricotta, honey, baby spinach and pinenuts ) and then we went for a walk around Granite island, climbing on all of the rocks where you're not supposed to and looking for burrows.
God, I wish I had taken my camera! It is just so pretty there.
There was surprisingly little wildlife, I remember going there when I was a kid and finding penguins and burrows all over the island...we didn't find a single active burrow although the revegatation of the island is really changing how it looks. We did see these weird looking birds that had carrot-y beaks almost as long as their bodies and long, knobbly kneed legs that made them look like the magic pudding. They're shy and run away when you point and giggle at them
The only penguins we did see were at the rescure centre and they had little fluffy hatchlings in a red lit burrow (love!!!) and there were a few injured birds lazing around the paddling pool like a bunch of elderly folk at a fancy retirement village...or maybe elderly bikers having minor turf wars over bloody everything;
*snap*snap* MY FISH!! MY FISH!!
*peck*peck* MY PATCH OF SAND!! MY PATCH OF SAND!!
When they're really pissed off they face-off and make these drawn out burp/fart noises deep in their throats. It's kind of hard to listen to a serious lecture about their feeding habits when you have Sonny Barger in penguin form brawling over a plastic squeaker toy in the background;
"We feed them fresh pilchards" *BUUUuuurP!!* FAAAAAAAArt!!* "twice daily. But during the moulting" *BUUuuuUUUuuuuRPP*FART* "we supplement their feeds with fish oil" *BUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRP*
Go meet the little bluey,greeny floating freaks, You'll love them
I love VH, especially because soon I will have even more people down there who I think are lovely
This place does good, clean, solid work. Ask for Buffy.
Looking forward to the weekend...
Oh, and I have finished reading Bebe Buell's autobiography.
I liked it...but it was kind of vicious.
In short:
- Elvis Costello is a fucking turdball.
-It was a slighly tragic tale, while I belive that she was genuinely liked and even loved...there is this horrible, brutal undercurrent to it all. A pervasive attitude toward women that no-one worried about or saw as wrong because it was so accepted and anyway...everyone was off the planet. Like being told that she was "getting too old" at the age of 21 by people whom she has remained friends with for years. And hypocritical me nearly put the book down once the chapters detailing her relationships with all of those 70s rockers tapered off (YES, I paid particular attention to the lowdown on Jimmy Page ) ...so I made myself finish it and I'm glad I did. She made some very honest revelations about herself in that book.
PLEASE HELP ME FIND THE MOVIE GROUPIE GIRL!!!
I love David Laity's "Dream of the Fisherman's Wife"
I went to an amateur wrestling bout on Saturday night to provide (my own dodgy brand of) moral support for my friends boyfriend. It was a hoot! Feral children high on sugar beating each other up in the audience, a gaggle of 14 yr old groupies who were in love with one of the refs. Good, clean, bad taste fun.
Hmmmm...
I'm thinking of selling my copy of Magic Theatre Oz soon due to a funds shortage, I thought of you when drafting the ebay listing - you and I being the only people who search for psychedelia on eBay I wish I was buying it instead of selling it though, much more fun.
Oooh. Have you listened to Sandy Denny, aka Robert's duetrix on The Battle of Evermore? I ask because I'm obsessed with her, is all.
He's ok, just more careful with himself than he used to be, which is a shame because he's a genius. Me being me, I can't understand how ANYONE could see him differently to me... I'm still three years old when it comes to relativism.
