Boy, I haven't posted in some time the details of my bland life, so here goes:

I've been mostly working north of Toronto just south of Barrie on my folks cottage, where a friend and myself are trying to put some final touches on a new screened-in porch that's been a going concern since June. Hopefully, we'll finish it by the end of September, but...

2008, huh? I guess it'll do.

Well, it's back to school at U of T for some evening courses, and looking forward to checking out a few music gigs around town when I can. There's the Von Bondies this week at the El Mocambo, and in the next few months, both Kent McAlister & The Iron Choir and Shuyler Jansen with Deep Dark Woods make...

Kent McAlister & The Iron Choir

For lovers of true troubadour/outlaw country music in the vein of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Gram Parsons, I'd highly recommend checking out Kent McAlister & The Iron Choir, currently touring Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada.

There's an upcoming show in Toronto on Thursday, November 15th at The Dakota Tavern. Be sure to come out!

If you come...

I remember the classic scenes of her in such films as "The King & I" (dancing with Yul Brynner) or "From Here To Eternity"...

I gotta pat myself on the back today....I made out with a cute, sexy 24yr old woman on a bus yesterday, whom I met for drinks for the first time. Sitting together on the bus, intensely French-kissing and feeling her breasts, she missed her bus stop, but didn't seem to mind.

Sigh.

The Invasion Continues

I love weird coincidences. Here's one:

I bought the newly released "Collector's Edition" of the 1978 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" today and watched it right through last night.

It holds up very well. The acting, story, direction all hold up very well. Real tension builds and continues throughout the unfolding of the story. This is certainly a film to...

Well, I turned 40 today. Feck.

Ah well...the usual will happen: I'll do a family dinner, go out later and see a gig somewhere, get pissed by getting people to buy me drinks.

Actually, I hope to see Sly and Robbie tonight with friends. If not, well, I'm sure some other amusement will take its place.

I'm not too down hitting 40...especially since a 20-something...
