Next weekend I'm going down to Pittsburgh to watch my nephew graduate. He's done very well in high school and has won a scholarship to West Virginia University School of Music to study the violin. He also won the Marine Corps Semper Fi Award this year.

Little Geordie (he stands over 6'4") has a special place in my heart. When his mom and dad broke...

It appears I'm still here for a few more moments, anyway.

I'm convinced this pup of mine is a bit psycho. In addition to burying his doggie bisquits in the dirt beneath the maple tree, under couch cushions and the Pennsylvania Dutch chest, he also buries them, along with his chew toys, in the kitty litter boxes. I suppose there is a special piquancy in...

I will be disappearing from the list of SG subscribers. Last December someone charged an unauthorized withdrawal to my checking account, and I closed that account which is the same account I used to activate my SG membership. I have no idea who did the withdrawal or what had been charged because the company who oversaw the transaction won't release that data. However, I am...

Yeah, that's what happens when I go on annual leave. It should be called annual stay.

This weekend I'm thinking about accidently leaving my phone at home smile

Its comments like the one u left in my last blog that make me so sad. You can say something so meaningful and truly beautiful, then the next thing I know Im spitting my coffee on my screen because I really didnt anticipate that kind of laughter. Today it was propel fitness water, but still. (its the diet, I seriously need my caffiene though)

Its towards the end of the month and you're still here. Oh you do love to torture us, dont u? smile

My, but isn't it fun raising a puppy! Blasted tyke knocked out the top screen on the front door while barking at a passing dog. This little beast isn't little anymore. When I took him in to be neutered last month, he weighed 66 lbs. at seven months old. He's already taller than my old lab. He's a beauty--black with reddish-brown paws, muzzle and tail....

WOW! Last Saturday night while I was listening to the bands at my favorite pub, a beautiful girl come over and sat by me for the whole night. Her honey blonde hair, blue eyes, and lovely figure--I was the envy of every guy in the place! The girl, whom I've known for several years, and I talked when we could during breaks between bands, and...

Hehehe, my dad had a similar story just the other day ... abt sitting in a bar with his friend and her 24 yr old daughter, both the best lookin gals in the whole place. Feels good, I imagine.

U dont have to be young to have a nice honey blonde haired princess like that. U gotta have the "magic" smile

I took the pup to the vets to have him neutered Thursday. He was pretty mad at me when he got home and hid from me for a couple of hours. Last night he finally got over it and curled up at my feet to take a nap. Today he is his usual puppy self.

It is always a heartbreaker when one takes a pet...

Hahah, my cat was pissed at me when I picked him up from the vet, too. He meowed incessantly for hours after, loud meows!! Evil eyes, too. *shudder*

Puppy will live a longer, healthier life now thanks to his daddy. smile Hopefully u dont have to give him meds everyday for a wk or something ... oh gawd, theres nothing worse for me than giving my pets meds, they NEVER take them easily and Im a terrible "sneaker". I try so many different ways to get the meds in those guys, from masking the taste to shoving it down their throats, it always sucks!

Actually, my all time favourite poem is by Anonymous.

A thousand years, you said,
as our hearts melted.
I look at the hand you held,

I spent last Wednesday night watching the lunar eclipse. It would have been a little more enjoyable if it hadn't been around zero outside. I got some good pictures of it because for once this winter the sky was clear.

That morning started disastrously. My furnace went out during the night, and this time there was no fixing it, so I had to buy a...

Mother of my ex is a sub teacher. Many detestable qualities though she has, I'm always impressed by this. I remember the shit I gave the subbies at school - wouldn't do that for all the tea in China.

Hope that furnace of yours is up and running now! Your winter is far colder than mine - I would not be loving winter over there without the ability to warm up at my whim.
ash:
I saw that u just commented to my newest blog, but Im still replying to my last blog comments blush The car situation wasnt too tough to fix afterall, but now the brakes are really messed up, so blah! My dad and I dont get along much at all, so asking him for help would most definitely start a fight because he would just use that opportunity to let me know abt how I need to "get my life in order" or something, pffft. He *is* good abt cars in some ways, but he sure doesnt fix them ... just diagnoses little things and is usually only right abt half the time, heheh.

We actually have one hell of a telescope here that my son gt for xmas last yr, it's definitely NOT a KIDS telescope by any stretch of the imagination! We've only got the 10x & 20x magnified lenses, but u can buy other badass lenses for it too! We got to see the lunar eclipse with the scope and ... it was just lovely smile

Crazy dogs! Yesterday, I was cleaning and straightening closets upstairs when I heard puppy Fenrir (aka Sarge) growling and barking ferociously at something in one of the closets. What the heck, I thought. Strange animals never get into the house except maybe an occasional bat that flies in through the fireplace chimney during the fall. I went over to check out what had him so...

HAHAHA< omg I laughed out loud on this one!! Ive seen several dogs doing that before, my little boston was one of them. In fact, the silly girl actually went INSANE when I brought out the boston terrier statue .... she went NUTS trying to attack it! I mean COME ON, these animals are supposed to have the best noses in the galaxy??? Why cant they SMELL the abscence of the other dog?! lol!

i know, i will definitely hand it back if it's a mistake - i work for a bank so there is no way i could sneak it by, haha. I'm waiting in anticipation for neil to get home so i can get my paycheck out of the mailbox... interesting!

I took the old dog to the vets the other day, and everyone remarked on how well he looked for a lab who's 16 years old and has suffered two strokes. Jabba the Pup (Scrappy) does get around pretty good for an old fart. He trundles through the snow following the puppy and me, and manages to keep up on our walks. Once in awhile...

Hahahaha, man u have a dog named Jabba the PUP?! Thats so rad I cant even tell u how rad it is, it's off the rad scales! I think having a younger dog around keeps him youthful feeling, dont u? At least thats the impression I get from other dogs in similar situations. smile Labs are so awesome, I forget what your puppy is tho?

Ash balled me out for not updating, so here goes: I've been reading. I got a couple of books for Christmas, and because TV is boring, I've been reading them. Right now I'm reading Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth," and it is a pretty good novel. Its main theme is how cathedrals got built during the Middle Ages, and it is told around...

Unbelievable that you wrote that - psychic? I went to the fridge to grab a drink last night and discovered I'd put the chocolate ice cream in the fridge (I did write that I don't use the freezer much shocked)

So yes, I've just discovered first hand how sticky chocolate ice cream can get when it (partially) thaws.

It's now back in the freezer - I'm going to run a test and see if it turns into a giant ice cube or if it re-freezes to ice cream smile
ash:
Hahaha, you're like the 3rd person today who wrote in their journal that "ash told me I need to update" lol. I didnt know how annoying I was until just now.

So the pillars book is a non-fictional book? Sounds like it. Its making me so hungry thinking abt it. Oh wait .. Im already hungry.

Theres bars in battle creek?! I bet theres only one, and I could probably spot u. wink You're the one who looks like he should be riding a big white horse, carrying a nice sword with dripping blood on the edges! Oh yeah Im goooood.

I had a fun Christmas. I won a "Major Award" (re: the movie "A Christmas Story"), and now the lamp graces the front window in my dining room right next to my Red Ryder BB-gun. My sister got it for me. She played it to the hilt--a fake telegram announcing my award and a delivery to the front door. I identify totally with that movie...

While Hitler was a terrible stain in many ways he was quite progressive and certainly more intelligent. Also, Hitler went to war for genuine moral (if extremely sick and twisted) and personal reasons, unlike GWB - whom I would argue was pressured in to war for pathetic political reasons.

I would be more inclined to compare GWB to the last years of Leonid Brezhnev's rule of the USSR, when his personality cult started to fall apart. But even at the end, Brezhnev was more cunning and intelligent than GWB.

What? No update? frown What did I do wrong? lol!

Look here, mister! I want an update, telling me alll the wonderful things goin on in your life! I give u exactly 3 days! Ok a week. smile Allright I give u as much time as u need, Im not a demanding person after all. But its hard to comment to journals Ive already commented on!

Christmas shopping is pretty much done. I sent the care package off to Australia Monday, and spent the rest of the day depleting my bank account. I'm now officially poor! The fridge and cupboards are stocked, so no worry.

My neighbor died last weekend--I was there--so I'm going to the funeral home today, and tomorrow I'll attend his funeral. While we were standing around waiting...
