2 days before I live for the GFA (guitar Foundation of America) convention, better get my pieces in working order
annalee:
It is quite a strange style, I think one has to have patience for it and I must admit, at times I was a little bored. I think you if you are into birds then it's easier, someone not familiar with things like bird watching might not enjoy it so much. Even better is Il Gattopardo ;-) but it's up to you if you want to try the peregrine in English.

Oh, I learned the Leo Brouwer piece, it's beautiful. I need lessons in reading guitar music though, I do read and play for the piano but with guitar I've been using tabs and it isn't good for timings and things but it's hard to remembers all the notes on the guitar! Good luck with your convention :-)
cato8:
smile I'm very happy to hear about the Brouwer piece; he seriously is an outstanding composer, everything he does seem to have a seamless blend of old and modern, every time I listen to something by him I think of Art Deco architecture and aesthetics, Modigliani paintings and the movie Aelita queen of Mars.
let me know when you're ready for reading lessons and I will be happy to share what I know.
thanks for your good wishes for the convention, it went actually great, well beyond my most rosy expectation.
Ciao

FROLIC!
annalee:
I think they could be mixed in together as long as they are grouped by author and things like genre and period. I'd love classical guitar lessons, we can swap, I'll arrange your book collection and you teach me some Leo Brouwer!
cato8:
It sounds like a good arrangement. Leo Bouwer Etude II is great at any level of proficiency, it has a beautiful corale structure with 2 main singing lines interacting within a great modal harmony. Let me know when you want to start. In the mean time I will get started on my book collection, I will keep you posted.

Cockroach on the beach/the Kafka-Murakami connection :-)

After having read pretty much every Haruki Murakami book that is available in Italian, I thought it was about time for me to read some Kafka, given how many times he is mentioned in the author's books.
I was resisted to this for a long time because of the fact that, at least in Italy Kafka's material is...
