You know, I've been thinking about it more and more recently, and as much as some people won't agree with me, that's fine.
I've noticed that a lot of struggle could be avoided without using the aid of the government at all. Everyone wants to blame big business and government for oppressing everyone, when we are just oppressing ourselves. I think that if people that live in lower income neighborhoods that are polluted with crime could easily stop the nonsense if they just started going outside more and socialized with their neighbors, grew with them on a friendly, neighborly basis, and just started to help each other out. We could work at this without even having to "abolish our current regime". Bartering in lowerclass neighborhoods would be great because when the kids needed something to eat, all they would have to do is provide a service, or just trade off different food so they could have excellent meals for that day/week/or however long. If everyone started working together, instead of just bitching about how bad they have then they wouldn't have it so bad. Neighborhood conditions would continue to improve, and there would be more of a brotherhood feel throughout the neighborhoods.
If we just wiped out our current system, I think the same thing would just happen all over again, some assholes would rise to power, change everything that was worked for before, convince the people that the deads they are doing are good for everyone (the leaders theirselves probably think this, and you can't really hate them for having differing ethics, because they have convinced the people what they are doing is "right"). I think if we just became less dependent on the goverment, and educated people on unethical tactics used by some businesses, and showed them why it's wrong to support this, then a lot of the policies might change once support was lost. Definately this would be a gradual effort, but an effort tried, could be an effort won. We have it all laid out in front of us, we have all of the goods we need stacked in our supermarkets, our clothing stores, etc. If we started supporting businesses that were ethical, and boycotted those that weren't, perhaps globalization would face a new reality that would force companies to use ethical tactics, instead of tyrannical sweat shop ones.
I talk to quite a bit of people who support a "maximum wage". I don't really understand how this would be very beneficial at all, Oppression is still Oppression. What is the difference between oppressing people who make 20,000 and people who make 60 billion? Money isn't everything. We all still have that human frame that brings us together in this world. Given we never agree on anything, we do things that are beneficial, and not everyone is just going to stop what they're doing and say "hey lets just give to everyone, and stop caring about ourselves" It would be nice if we were all capable of being this selfless, but we are not. Why not just try to work around all of this, and try to help out those around us, until it has an effect on people that could make a difference. If someone truly needs help and doesn't want a fucking handout, why not give them a hand? It could come back to you, it may not. It's a risk, but if this philosophy gained support without the use of force from extremists, then this could be very beneficial. And it's a very simple and old philosophy. "Kindness". It doesn't know boundary, and it doesn't call to arms or to abolish anything. It's a force that exists within all of us, that can make us more responsible human beings. Something we could all work for, and something that would come back to us. We all have different ideas what this word means, but we could all perhaps try to demonstrate it. It comes equipped with intuition, so why not use it?
Anyways, that is my rant for the day, maybe I might have one why it's healthy to be angry some other day, but that is my food for thought. Adios.
