Youtube is wasting my life. Today's blog dedicated to SLF
gotta getaway
Tin soldiers (lookin' a bit older!)

I saw them again a few years ago in the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, with Bruce Foxton (Jam) on bass. Still a good night out

Couldn't find 'wasted Life' which would have been appropriate...

Off to waste more life looking for Belly and L7

Well, nothing useful is going to get done today. Thanks to youtube. Check this. A few of the bands I saw in Edinburgh 86/87/89
Lloyd Cole & the Commotions
The Stranglers (Edinburgh playhouse)
The stranglers (newcastle city hall)
(OK so I saw the stranglers eleven times in two years)

The cure
Love this clip. Hard to remember the cure as we first knew and lioved...

Without knowing any German (I assumed that's German, but it didn't look like familiar German German, so it makes sense that you say it's Swiss German) I thought it was saying that Jan sucks (given his multitude of 2nds and a 4th or whatever combination it was) and that he's poultry who only deserves to ride a childrens bike, or is only capable of riding said bike.

You are right, it's all about culture. I interpreted it as total aggro-smack (American) v. possible flattering/not totally asshole (rest of the world).

The source: le Google, god of all things good and evil under our sun. I found it while obsessively stocking up on good Jan pics for the month of July smile Shitloads of them in my pics. My avatar will reflect Jan's progress in July, so I want to be fully armed for any and all subtleties of emotion.

I know, youtube is a harsh mistress. I had to forcibly shut myself off yesterday in order to take a biology quiz. Which, by the way, is a really hard class. Though I suspect the level of difficulty is inverse to the amount of time I actually spend studying. Anyway, I think I dreamed of watching a video on youtube last night!

Wasn't into the whole David Sylvain/Duran Duran thing. My friend Renay was though, big time.

Now that I look at him as an adult (me, not him) I can't decide: is he gay or just English?

Well, after last nights mark-a-thon I have been very unproductive today. Not hung over. Much. But not motivated either. Was scrolling through my iTunes Library to see which of my album titles amused/interested me:

I like these ones, in no particular order:

A grand don't come for free
Back in the DHSS
Dear Catastrophe waitress
Do you like my tight sweater?
Wrong town, wrong planet,...

Option #1 is my first inclination, but going with that inclination has put me in loads o' trouble over the years so I've learned to avoid it. People tend to personalize statements like that. Weird, i know whatever

Option #2 won't work cuz she knows it's a lie. It is funny though.

I do like #3. Maybe I could send her emails showing cheap fares as a hint. And links to Vegas wedding chapels - "this one's cute, and the Elvis minister isn't that fat...And you get a free bouquet!"

The 4th glass of wine is the one that gives you a sore head.

Particularly when your wine glass is like a bucket on a stick.

I will get Cartoon Network when I get my cable upgrade. I have barely any channels now, and really only have it cuz it's $5.00 a month and it gets me Fox, ie Simpsons, Family Guy, House, you know the rest. The upgrade will get me not only TdF, but also 358 episodes of Law & Order daily, and the good channels: history, discovery, Bravo, AMC, etc. But also more crap. And more ways to waste lovely summer evenings. I will have it downgraded for Sept so I actually get class work done, which I really have to do cuz it's my most difficult semester.

When I had Cartoon Network last summer I got addicted to Powerpuff Girls. They are great.

and old episodes of the Tick. Love The Tick.

So whats going on?

Well its wet (hooray, its looking like a desert around here). 3 years ago I would have been depressed and swearing about this, but when you get more than 320 days sunshine, a bit of rain is OK. Its also cold, relatively speaking. Yesterday was the coldest day of the year 17 degrees celcius. So my bike protests when it is...

All you catholics (ex & current) do have it tough. That indoctrination runs deep, eh?

"Then spotted not only music I love, type of girls had been out with/ friendly with/ married/ been dumped by..." You are a glutton for punishment tongue Oh that's right, you're a cyclist. wink

You brought up the geek factor. Yeah, this is a site that not only tolerates, but celebrates geek in all its forms: technology, sports, art, sex, whatever. I'm sure half my friends list knows more now about cycling then they ever did before. And they're all pretty tolerant of it, making supportive comments in my journal when I spazz out with pics and whatever. And I now know that computer guys are not as weird/scary/creepy as I thought they were, and that they occassionally get out and about in the world. Even if they do play a lot of video games.

RE: boobs v. legs - I haven't seen a lot of models with really good legs on here, ie athlete girl legs, not just skinny girl legs. Not saying that they aren't here, I just haven't seen much of them. Though that could be cuz I go for days without looking at the pics, mainly just doing the journals and groups thing. Sometimes I forget that there are naked chicks here. eeek shocked Is that possible!??!! Is that heresy?!! biggrin

msstabby:
The weather there sounds exactly like San Diego. It's good to be grateful for the rain rather than cursing it because it won't leave. And the bike does not need to be subjected to such cruelty. It needs, nay, deserves, pampering and love, not to be thrust out into such cruel elements. That's just mean and constitutes bike abuse.

That island looks nice. I saw a show on tv about a resort in a place called Datai Bay.

Nice. I've put it on my list of places to go. Jeez, I can't wait to get back into the working world to earn full-time $$. I need to travel! And yes, people are over-rated. Gotta escape them once in a while.

Your definition of boredum is perfect. I am going to steal it. Might or might not give proper credit when used, depending on the mood. Cuz ya know, I'm not an ex-catholic so your guilt won't work on me, man! biggrin wink

Well that sucked! I bust the new tube putting it on, what a klutz. Didn't get out until 6.45 when all the dodgy builder's were out driving to work half asleep. So short ride and feeling a bit lazy because of it. Maybe i'll dust off the running shoes tonight to make up for it.

At least with jan winning the Tour de Suisse, there...

See, it solves two problems: where to put the arm warmers, and how to keep the bits warm in a strong head wind. Handy, eh? Leaves the back pocket open for food.

Pettachi was obviously very excited to win that stage eeek biggrin

That picture makes me giggle every single time I see it.

Every. Time.

Its 5 am and very happy!! In spite of having to put a new tyre and inner on my back wheel before i can ride beause aussies can't confine beer bottles to the bin once they are empty, and freezing my ass off because I can't find my leggings, Jan won the Tour de Suisse with a phenomenal time trial.

Those two aren't cute enough to blush for. Unless he's wishing it was the podium girls instead.

Now Basso......totally blush-worthy.

Ok, Who do you fancy for the Tour this year?
My top 5 for the overall:

Jan
Basso
Floyd Landis
Levi Leipheimer
Michael Rasmussen

If i'm allowed a couple of outsiders then Garzelli and Vinokourov.

For the green, with mcewen not firing on all cylinders (or both knees) there can be only one:

my favourite! Big Tom Boonen!

In light of new citizenship, Aussie's with...

my old high school french is bad - never mind, edited for bad translation.

Jan won by 24 secs, picked up 50 secs on first? Gil second, Jurgen Zack third. Is that correct?
msstabby:
Damn. When he's there mentally, he's really there. If he can find another kilo or two to drop between now and 2nd week of July when it matters, he will be a monster. Damn.

Evans is rockin' too. Good for him.

After a shitty week, things at the weekend didn't turn out too bad. Good ride saturday morning. Tough pilates workout for an hour afterwards. Got letter confirming citzenship! Yay! Now a dual Scottish Aussie. Fantastic meal at Joseph Alexander's in the evening by way of celebration then home to watch the Wallabies convincingly stuff England at the rugby. Add to that Jan is only 50...

Congratulations to you!!! Now you are a Scozzie. biggrin

That's pretty gross, the dead rat I mean. I'd probly offer the grill to a friend I didn't really like (after cleaning it out , of course) then go buy a new one. But that's just me.

Jan is looking sooooo good!!! Let's hope he doesn't peak early and shoot his wad before July. That would make me sad. frown

That's too bad your work is a drag right now. What are you doing that is so draining? Something with drugs eeek if I remember correctly, though I don't know the specifics.

Riding buddy sent this. seems perfectly normal to me...

Triathlete Translations "I am an outdoors type of person." Really
means:
I train in any type of weather. If it's raining, snowing, 90 degrees
w/100 percent humidity, or winds gusting at 30 mph. I don't want to
hear any complaints because I will still train in it and you're just a

So the great festival of round-ball fruitiness has kicked off, and even hiding at the other side of the world is no escape.

Yes those pesky Socceroos (Aussies have a nickname for everything from ambulance drivers to hockey teams) went and qualified and in so doing have sentenced us all to a month of yawning tedium while we see countless repeats of black and white...

Also, we (me and my other sporty peeps) have two friends' threads going, one is TdF chat, and the other is daily workout check-ins. You are invited if you care to participate.

I'd point you in the direction of the threads but I get lost looking for them on the new site. They are down the page where we check our email. The tab is kinda hidden. I just found it today.

Well there's any amount of cycling on at present. Too bad i don't live in Europe so I could actually watch it at a reasonable hour (or at all). The Dauphin Libr is in the mountains at present with two classic climbs in two days: Col de L'Izoard today, and Galibier tomorrow. Both a bit of a honk even on an MTB.

Tour de Suisse...

Boonen is HUGE! Love him!!! Jan is happy cuz he's not fat going into the tour, there's no Lance going into the Tour, and he now has the super-secret cake antidote. smile And too bad one does not actually get to keep the chickadees, eh? Although didn't someone in the peloton meet and marry one of them?

This: Beckham plays with the wrong shape balls

made me choke on my chocolate-cinnamon coffee biggrin

I suspect that he's played with all shapes and sizes of balls in his lifetime.

That's too bad that your week sucked. Sucky weeks suck. Did you at least get to get out and about?

I also suspect that the reasons you think rugby is beautiful are not quite the same reasons I do wink Thus I shall officiate smile

But ya know who I used to like watching were France. They used to have really clean formations (I have no clue the proper terminology) compared to England. And I would always go down the pub with my Kiwi friends to watch the All Blacks. SA were good too. They (kiwis) kicked some serious England ass. Actually, I always supported whoever was playing against England, in whatever sport, primarily because the fans were such dicks. I do the same thing here: Boston Red Sox/New England Patriots fans are on par dick-ness-wise with England fans. They are a hair away from becoming the equivalent to hooligans.
