Well, Duh
Caitlin called me "nerdy" and "cute" in the same sentence.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)I've come to terms with the fact that I will not know everything that there is to know about civil procedure (how you bring a claim against someone in federal court) but the thing that is very different about law school from undergrad or grad school is that every course builds on what you learn in every other course. For the first time I'm less focused on my grades and more focused on actually really truly understanding it. (Not to say that I don't care about my grades, but given that I was obsessive about then all thru college and the like this is a huge change.) Rightly or wrongly, I'm more focused on really learning how it all works and how to use it so that I can use it in the future than memorizing each line of everything (that is why they put this stuff in books, go look it up.) Either I'm not a very good law student or I'm a well-adjusted one, I'm not sure.
My biggest fear is going to campus. Everyone is so freaked out that it wears off on me and then I can't study very well. I have that peace of mind that I didn't waste time during the semester and that I did all my reading and that I'm really starting to understand this stuff. That makes me oddly very low-stress COMPARED TO MY FELLOW STUDENTS.
That said, I had a nightmare last night that I woke up with a rainbow bright tattoo on the inside of my left arm. Only rainbow bright was riding what looked like the horse of death and instead of riding across a rainbow she was galloping across a horrible tribal band. I thought my heart was going to stop.
That said: I do have two more tattoos that I've had planned for a long time. Neither of them are of Rainbow Brite, btw. One is built around an e. e. cummings poem. The other is for when I graduate from law school. Who knows what will happen in 5 or 10 years, but those are the only two big ones left.
I'm telling you: It was really scary.
This is the view from where I sit everyday:
Guess who is going to Rome for 6 weeks this summer to study law (and other stuff)?
Not Georgia, ITALY!
I'll get to study and hangout with Albertine
And walk past stuff like this everyday
I'm so thankful for my life.
And then, look out, I might just be in Chicago for the second half of the summer.
I've been thinking about going on my exhange to USA or Canada thought I'm fascinated by all the really old European universities like the one in Bologna, founded in 1088. Whoa! But living abroad for a while would be wonderful and I'd be able to improve my english (or french) *and* get to meet some new people.
xx
