nice point about weddings. my wife & i just threw our reception party (sort of a first anniversary gig) - and while you wants things to be NICE, it's hard to keep persepctive. the books, magazines you buy are pretty wild - they press you to turn attention to the *smallest details* ... it's an interesting industry. i think a great sociology book is just waiting to be written about the economics & methods of the wedding planning industry. we tried to focus on the big things: food, music, the stuff that matters to having a good time... but yea. it's a bit disheartening at times.

word to the lower-working class, hand-me-downs and modest (albeit appropriate) gatherings. glad you've escaped the world of buffy, mitsy and the racket club. avoid it like the plague.
