I have a serious question...
If you've read my page, you know that I'm currently in the military.
Part of that means, no ink or piercings
Note: ink before you join is acceptable, once you join they tell you what/where you can get it, and that just takes the fun out of it, in my opinion
My question is.. when I get out in the next coming months.. What should I get and what advice can you give about getting it? (ink and piercings)
Some people say "don't get anything unless you know for sure you want it," others say, "don't decide until your there, in the moment. Then get what seems like a good idea at the time."
Well... this is SG. If there's one thing about SG I know for damn certain, that is people here know what the fuck is up with some good ink! I don't think I've seen a single tattoo that looked like crap on ANYONE.
Same with piercings too. Want something. Not sure what to get.

Colour is mandatory!! That's what brings ink to life and makes it amazing!
As for advice, I obviously have very little. I've got plenty of buddies who got ink done during their time in, but most of them were stationed up in an area California where the choice for shops and artists were vast and well reviewed. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to forward a few of them.
As for what to get, personally, I'm not planning on getting anything military related, save for the initials of the good friend I lost a ways back.
Viewing from the angle that what you get will always be there has helped me whittle things down to a point: I want something that makes me enjoy the body I'm in even more, something that makes me smile as I look in the mirror or reminds me of something of which I need to be reminded. So for one, I agree with the "think about it ahead of time, don't get anything unless you know for sure you want it" approach.
I'm starting with a symbol that a character from one of my favorite video games possessed as a tattoo on my shoulder and working that into a sleeve as time goes on and more money comes in.
