I just realized that The Strokes' third album "First Impressions of Earth" turned 10 years old this year. It came out early 2006 and I remember vividly the emotional connection I had with the songs. The first being "Heart in a Cage" and the lyric at the very end of the song: "And I'm sorry you were thinking I would steal your fire." I was seeing a girl who liked me way too much and I was actually tricked into going out with her a couple of times (long story). I never intended to hurt her because I intended to go out with her.
Then there's "Electricityscape" and the lyric: "Oh with strangers to impress so near/Old friends don't realize I'm here." Pretty obvious how one could relate to that. I was fresh out of high school (1 year) and everyone I knew was gone.
"Vision of Division" I don't want to highlight all the lyrics to this song, so I'll just leave here to listen to.
The rest of the album is really good, but these songs are the ones that stick out to me and remind me of the emotions I was feeling. The first 3 albums bring me immense nostalgia.
