AGGRH! I'm pretty certain that I have a kidney stone running laps up and down the lower left side of my abdomen. IT HURTS A LOT. Vicodin isn't helping it, either.
I'm debating whether I should go to an emergency room after work, because of the immense pain going on in there, or if I should just wait for it to pass (ugh). It's been hurting since Wednesday morning. It's a very spiky kind of pain. Based on what I've read about kidney stone treatments, it would seem to be a fairly even kind of agony if I just left it there to do its own thing or if I had it extracted/irradiated/pulverised by a doctor. Since I have no money, I'll probably have to go with the former option. Owwwww. Either way, I guess I have no choice but to pick up some cranberry pills and/or sugar-free cranberry juice just as a precaution against UTIs, which, together with the stone, would probably turn me into a gibbering, raving lunatic. Like, moreso than usual, because I'm not accustomed to pain like this. Carpal tunnel syndrome and temporomandibular joint disorder I can handle, as both of them produce dull, gradual pain over relatively small areas. The stone, on the other hand, I can feel going up and down the area between my hipbone (at the lowest point) and my underarm (at the highest point).
I was able to sleep a little yesterday, despite the pain and the fact that I'm out of Lunesta. I hope I can repeat it today, i.e., that the pain doesn't get so bad that I can't sleep or concentrate on anything else.
