"Pandemic imminent"
I completely believe that the human race is on the downslide and that the clock is ticking. We are going to be wiped out sometime relatively soon, and in my opinion its not going to be nuclear war, or some guy in the sky coming down raining fire. I believe it is going to be a virus. Think of the "Black Death," or bubonic plague, in the 1300s. It wiped out 20 to 30 million people in six years, which at the time was 1/3 of the population of Europe. There have been 7 different pandemics of cholera, between 1816 and 1966, that killed 10,000 to 250,000 each time, totaling well over 25 million deaths. AIDS is on the path to kill 100 million people in Africa alone by 2025. Smallpox killed between 300 and 500 million just in the 20th century, and all the way up to the 1950's it was estimated that 50 million cases occurred in the world each year. How about the flu? The Asiatic Flu from 1889-1890 killed about 1 million people. The Spanish Flu from 1918-1919 killed an estimated 17 million in India, 675,000 in the United States and 200,000 in the UK. This has been categorized as a type of H1N1 virus. The Asian Flu, or H2N2 virus, killed 70,000 in the United States from 1957-1958. Hong Kong Flu, H3N2, killed 34,000 in the United States from 1968-1969. Avian Flu, H5N1, spread in 2004 because of a lab mistake in the United States. Across the world only 59 people died, but only because the virus was unable to maintain human to human spread. It died after transmitting only a few times. Now we get to another type of H1N1 virus. Guess the nickname for that one. Thats right, the Swine Flu. The media is portraying this as borderline apocalyptical. Every single news station is reporting it basically 24/7, even though only a handful of people have died and the WHO (World Heath Organization) has said that nearly all cases so far have made a full recovery, most without medical attention. This is not spreading and killing for the same reason the Avian Flu didn't turn into a bubonic plague. Viruses that begin by transmission from animals to humans are having a hard time transmitting long term from human to human. The Swine Flu is not going to wipe out human kind. If, and when, a virus wipes out humanity it better have a much cooler name than "The Swine Flu."
As was previously stated, I completely believe that a virus is going to wipe us out for multiple reasons. First, civilization has brought humanity to a point where we cannot function without being crammed into tuna cans that we call cities. Human beings are face to face every single day with hundreds if not thousands of people, spreading germs and sickness like never before in history. Its a powder keg waiting for a spark. Second, viruses are evolving and we are not. We are still the same quasi-intelligent, barely conscious, nearly bovine, zombie-like bipeds that put down the banana and picked up the gun. Individual humans can be intelligent and compassionate; a group of human beings might as well be referred to as skittish cattle or even lemurs, waiting to run themselves off of a cliff. But viruses are smart. They could never before transfer from animals to humans, but the last two flu "pandemics" were transmitted from animals, and its pretty much the consensus that AIDS came from some bored, horny guy in Africa that caught himself a chimp. So far these viruses haven't been able to spread from human to human to human to human and so on and so forth, but only from human to human to human then die. But sometime soon that will not be the case. Lastly, there is the completely irresponsible and almost criminal over prescribing of antibiotics to people, and especially children. We need to let our children get sick. If someone in the neighborhood has chicken pox, every other mother should take their kid over there and have them play twister. If someones son gets a sniffle, let him stay home from school, give him some water and broth, and let him get better. He should not be taken to his apparently half brain dead and script happy pediatrician who is going to throw amoxicillin at every drip of snot that comes out of a kids nose. There is a difference between bacterial infections and viruses, we all know that, but antibiotics are still crippling our immune systems and leaving us wide open to the threat of these pandemics.
One day, probably sooner than later, a killer virus is going to bounce from some jungle animal, whether it be in Africa or South America, and spread across the world. Its going to catch us with our pants down and with not nearly enough anti-virals in the warehouse. Why is this? Because our corporate run democracies keep the bare minimum in stock so that they can jack up the cost of already overpriced medications due to supply in demand. Cities not crippled by deaths will be crippled by widespread fear and panic, which will once again be continually perpetuated by our agenda based global media. The cessation of functioning cities will shut down entire countries. Wall Street collapses and Main Street sees tumble weeds as each patch of civilization becomes a ghost town. A few remnants of humanity may be spared, but half of those will end up wiping each other out through fear, or ranging groups of marauding, raping, and pillaging brigands will enslave or murder any survivors that they find. Civilization has collapsed. The human race is hanging on by a thread, if at all. Hundreds, and then thousands of years pass as the planet slowly begins to right itself once the plague, which was humanity not the virus, has finally stopped destroying it. Soon all vestiges of humanity have been overrun or overgrown by nature. Everything is back to the way it should be. Equilibrium has been returned.
