Finishing packing. Which would be easier if I didn't feel like my head was in a vice and my throat rubbed with sandpaper.

I spent Labor Day weekend in Decatur/Atlanta at the Decatur book festival-went to some great readings (Poetry at Java Monkey, galleries, Charis, Gay in the South reading). I also went to the Civil Rights photojournalism exhibit at the High Museum-if you're in the area, definitely go for it. I also got a membership form for the Atlanta Writers' Club-I need a fresh pair of eyes...

It's my First Year Seminar, with Amber Dermont. She's really funny, if a little sharp.
Yeah I've been to Little Five, I really like it. Loved Junkman's Daughter and Sevananda.
I went to the Book Festival too! Missed a lot of it with mandatory orientation activities, but I did a workshop with David Fulmer that was excellent.

So I've added two new schools to the grad list:
Boston University
NYU

I like these because I'll be able to do grad work not just in writing but literature as well (I did this for my BA). Boston also has "teaching at the college level courses"-I enjoy writing on a personal level, but would rather teach lit courses. BU also has Agni-a good lit...

fact: nyu was always my dream school. i wanted an undergrad in lit and a masters in journalism.

sadly, i let the opinions of others keep me from going for it.

so yeah-- you've got awesome options ahead of you and i slightly envy you. or at least wish i could rewind time.

p.s. someday i really want to hang out with you and dish about books, k?
sweetbutch:

i gotta see that j'taime movie

i was reminded of another guilty pleasure movie -- shoot, what's it called, the cheerleader movie where the white cheerleaders of rancho carne high steal cheer routines from the south compton clovers

oh yea, pump it up, no that's a different guilty pleasure, with christian slater.....

Currently, I'm working on personal statements for grad school. I'm going to see the Dark Knight tomorrow and hopefully get to see a band sometime this weekend.

OT: I think I'm watching an inordinate amount of gay porn surreal

ta2dmom:
I don't watch any porn so I wouldn't know what an "inordinate amount" would be lol.
Silla's doing good. She's finally able to go outside and play now that she's had all of her shots and such. Now we just have to get her to start going out there all the time instead of using the puppy pads inside still. Ugh.
suntlacrimae:
ARGH FLASHBACKS!!!! Good luck with those . . . I've always thought the personal statement was the hardest part of applying. I hate hate hate writing those. On the other hand, yay for Dark Knight and gay porn!!

In Columbia. I'll be heading back to Charlotte in a week or so.

I really want to buy a bike.
ash:
I have a bike .. a cheap one. Im not too into it, really. Its hard to manuever! I didnt think it mattered what kind of bike one had as long as it had 2 wheels, a seat and a handlebar, lol. But it matters, believe me on this one! Get a schwinn, those are badass bikes. Huffys Ive heard are good, too.

I really don't need the drama today from anyone, no matter what their status on SG is.

It's my third day in Charleston-I've read through ten of the thirty manuscripts I'm supposed to read through by Monday.

There's a farmer's market down the street from me , it's open on Saturday-I can't wait to check it out!

Just bought my ticket for Die Fledermaus. I may get one for I Am My Own Wife. I saw it before I left SC, but Out on the Town is having a get together before the showing and I may go to it as well as the play.
