I'm officially out of Boston, but my roommate just backed-out of the cross-country drive. So I think I'll drive my car to Jersey and send it to Seattle on the autorail. The downside is that I can no longer visit my friend(s) in the Twin Cities. What did I say last entry? "Roommates... Grr?" Fuck that--it's not effusive enough. Fuck roommates.

The moving truck arrives...

Listen to Velocity. You can make the drive. 9 days for that distance is only about 6 hours a day, with a healthy dose of Velocity in the middle.

See? I'm smart. Listen to me.

Roommates.... Grr.
velocity:
Exactly why I have none.

I stopped in to see Zack today to make an appointment for a touch-up, and he asked if yours healed well. He wants to make sure you're happy with it, and told me to tell you thanks for coming back. He is a total sweetie pie.

- I move out of Boston this Sunday. The city has been my home for the past few years, yet I feel nothing but an ever-increasing desire to get gone. I've been idle for too many weeks. I need something to salvage whatever edge I had and fast. Hurry, September.

- My roommate just started sleeping w/ his best friend's sister-in-law. She just turned eighteen....

I apologize for the scarcity of journal updates recently. I've been working hard to make my move to the west coast happen, and it seems that everything is just now falling into place.

My car, my roomate and I arrive in Duvall, WA on 5 or 6 September. We move into our two-bedroom on the 17th (The Lodge at Redmond Ridge). Immediately after, I will...

Be sure to let me know when you'll be passing through. We'll have cupcakes.

Man, that's a long way out. Friendly tip: don't expect to get home between 4:30 and 6:30 on a weeknight in under an hour.

KEA is in Renton just off the 167.

I'm not sure if one of the little commerce hubs has popped up out there yet, but there are several Starbucks down in Redmond proper. Some people also like Victor's Coffee in Redmond.

I walked into my Boston apartment around eleven o'clock and went to sleep because I hadn't much better to do. I thought of finishing The Gunslinger before passing out, but my roommate turned the light off--and I don't relish trying to read by the light of an LCD monitor. Eh, I thought, and I climbed into the loft.

Not two hours later I was jolted...

Good choices. "Plowed" and "Whiskey in the Jar" were on the first two CDs I burned to take out in the EVO.

The new Shihad is awesome. It's so good to see the boys put out a really solid and energetic album, after what happened with the Pacifier album.

Yeah. She's a monster. I know that without much effort I could get her up to 450 HP, but I'm going to leave her stock for the time being. My reflexes and driving ability should make me the equal of most people.

I took her out to carve corners this morning. Running through 40 MPH caution corners, she acted like she was on a straight road.

The leather, sunroof, and big stereo are also nice.

It's really nothing teachable or learnable. It's more just practice and learning your car rather than learning set rules. You know, things like knowing my EVO isn't as fast as it could be right now because the ambient air temp is over 90 degrees and the turbo isn't helping as much as it would with cool air. Knowing that my turbo hits at between 3500 and 3800 RPM. Knowing that you shouldn't just use engine compression to slow coming into corners because you'll likely bog on the way out of the corner. Remembering to find the proper line into a curve to make it closer to a straight line. Learning where your car wants to shift so that you can throw between gears almost without using the clutch. Little things. Most people just dump the accelerator and shift when it screams or when they've read that they should shift. You have to listen to the car and have to understand it.

Then it's all reflexes and timing.

EDIT: I will also probably be taking race lessons (since I haven't had an interesting car for years) at Pacific Raceways next year. This is in anticipation of driving a rented super-car on the Nurburgring for my thirtieth birthday.

I'm going to Connecticut this week to start packing and to play with my car. I'm bringing my laptop, though, so I'll be able to post from my parent's house. (My mother's obviously not fond of SG on her computer.) I'm going to read some, attempt again to break my writer block (it's all in my head, I know, I know), and will go see...

Today, I am dogsitting and watching the entirety of Firefly for the first time. My payment for the former is a case of beer, so I'll likely be drinking that while I relax on the couch. And if I get bored, I brought along King's The Gunslinger (Book I of the Dark Tower series), too. Today will be a good day indeed.

I'm oddly looking forward to Red Eye just for Ms. McAdams.

And Firefly is very entertaining. I can't wait for Serenity.

I'm looking forward to Red Eye for Cillian Murphy.

I remember watching Firefly when it was on TV, and I loved it. It was really kind of sad how the network screwed that show in the ass.

I'm going to see The Island today, and I hope it's as good as I've been told.

The absolute truth? I am a complete waste of space and oxygen right now, and I hate it. Holding patterns suck--and so do roommates who, despite being the best of friends, manage to drag their feet. "Let's leave around Labor Day weekend." How about you straight fuck-off and stop trying to convince me that I'm being selfish in asking you for a firm date.

Hooray...

If you swing by this part of the country on Labor Day weekend, most likely you'll be able to hang out with both of us.

I found out Saturday that a friend of the family was ambushed outside of a Connecticut courthouse and shot four times in the head. She died. The gunman was her soon-to-be ex-husband. He shot himself in the head, too. To him I say, Way to fail at life, you fucking psycho; I'm sure your two kids will be fine.

(How do things go that...

Pragmatism, eh? Don't talk to my boyfriend when you get there, then. He'll convince you to do horrible things. He did recently lose a sidekick, and you saw what happened to the last one.
