So my new band played it's first gig on Thursday. It was sort of a wild scene. All the sudden the night of the 2nd guitarist wasn't going to play and this whole thing ensued, he ended up showing, but we were an hour late, which was bad beacuse we were bringing part of the PA (note, it is a bad sign whenany venue that does not have it's own dedicated PA) so we were aleady off on a bad foot with the band that was supposed to go one at the time we showed up.
The Stardust lounge, located in scenic Downey, was kind of a trip. There was a druck, long-hired, forthysomthing heckler that was making a constant critique and giving an abundance of advice. That was actually my first heckler, so that was kind of cool. We totally overpowered the clubs PA speakers, which was not cool. No monitors, the vocals were non-existant from my perspective, the guitar was just a wash, I could kind of make out the bass, so I had something to follow...We closed the place out, I was wasted (6 beers and tequila...Ouch...) I had to dump my stuff off at the studio in Vernon and make it back to Beverlywood, which happened somewhere around 3:30am, I had a 9am meeting in Beverly Hills. I am WAY-TO-OLD for these kind of shananins.
I have to admit, it was fun. Two of the guys in the band are in a Beatles cover band, and all their friends were calling for Beatles songs after we ran through our set, several of which we ploughed through, despite the fact that I didn't really know them!?!
