It didn't take long, I'm already (re)re-obsessed with the River Cottage series.. As I spent the day cleaning the apartment to get ready for the holidays I had the show on constant loop in the background. Seems to act as a constant reminder of what I'd like to shoot for, which keeps me happy any inspired.

Time already seems flying by this year though. And...

I never really did love driving, but I did come from FL.. everything seemed to be 30-45mins away by car regardless of how far it actually was in miles. I'm sure it'll take a bit getting used to having to commute places again, but prolly not all that long heh.

The main reason I want to get out of the city is to have some land. The desire has been building for a long time and as I get older it only seems to grow in intensity. Time to settle down, and all that. Course, a huge part of it all is where to do it. I love the weather up here, but all my family is back south. hrummph.

Figured I'd wish a happee happee on here while you still have the balloon still up! tongue

October! The weather has finally started to feel like the fall, and I'm already taking full advantage of it. With the summer heat gone, I'm finally able to kick my homebrewing back into full gear. I've already got my summer mead bottled up after a few months of fermenting to age, and am waiting for the imperial stout to be ready just in time for...

Weekly planning is back in effect! Will be starting out keeping things simple as everything comes back into season. For now i have an ale fermenting, and tomorrow is sausage making day.

oh man has time flown this year.. spring was pretty good, changed jobs and was able to continue most of my projects. summer was relentless and I got pretty lazy. I did get a chance to get a fire-escape garden going though. planning on a fall revival though, already got 3 beers in the closet to age until mid winter ^_^

Wintering preparations continue! I have been curing a two pound piece of pork belly over the last week and it was time to day to put that final touches on it: smoke! haha

I built myself a surprisingly, well working, little rig to smoke the slab in for only about 20$. The materials list included a small roasting pan, 4 metal skewers, a small tin...

I like the idea for the smoker - the simpler the better with those kinds of things.

Interesting recipe for cider you came across, never had cider with lemon and rosemary in it before.

I got the drink 'recipe' from this site: http://www.godecookery.com/allrec/allrec.htm

The Apple-Drink with Sugar, etc, seems to be taken straight from the 1600s, which to me is pretty awesome in it's own right. It's def not your typical store bought cider, since it's basically apple flavored water.. which isn't really a bad thing hah

Oh man! Apparently one of my all time favorite cooking shows and inspirational materials, River Cottage, has put out a lot more episodes since last I checked. Of course, that was a few years ago.. But hey, it's English tv. They don't always put out things for their fans every year. Just look at Dr Who haha.

This couldn't be a better time to get...

As the weather grows colder, it gets harder for me to contain my excitement. This is my time of the year. Fall, for me, is when the best kind of food takes place. Hearty meals, preserved meats, all sorts of lagers and cold stored ales get their rebirth here...

Shouldn't be any surprise, then, that I'm taking up a pretty big challenge: feeding my fellow...
