I spend a lot of time more or less toadying for the pharmaceutical industry in a very indirect but nevertheless substantive way. When Edwards gets elected and the class war is on, I'm probably first up against the wall, or at least in the first cohort in line, so I should probably lay out some policy statements now before the primaries:

Yuengling? NO!! I loved that beer, to a fault fer sher, whilst taking depositions in Pittsburgh and Philly. Now I gotta cross it off the list along with any Coors product. Wait . . . Coors IS still evil, right?

If you are the Brewers then . . . no, no it's not.

BTW, I took the Atticus Finch job. And, suprisingly, the dude is gonna pay me very well. I would never mention that, but it's kind of an anomaly to be able to do criminal defense and still maybe pay back some student loans. smile

We found my friend's body this evening, on the grounds of a closed down hospital in our hometown that we used to sneak into when we were in high school.

I don't really have much to say, I'm just exhausted and kind of relieved to at least have part of the answer about what happened to him.

Work! It took about a week to really establish the pecking order, but things are settled. We even sent a decrepit old system gently into the night and will wake up on Monday with an industry standard ass-kicker. Typically, everybody is scared, but I told them I would gladly stop by the server farm in DC while I'm at ALA next weekend and destroy the...

They sort of picked me. I have an enormous head which narrowed my options to about a dozen pairs in the whole store, and my budget (high but not crazy: total cost not to exceed that of a good suit) ruled out a number of those. It came down to fit. Most glasses tolerate my head between their arms, but this pair embraces me like they've been waiting their whole life.

No query, per se, but I'm interested in finding someone with whom I can discuss semantics and psycho-linguistics.. preferably with someone who has studied it. That's all.

Once again, the money-crazed, power-hungry fundamentalist Quakers who run the institution where I work have refused to bow to the steely will of the graduate student union, so the GAs and TAs have gone on strike. I just passed by a group of them picketing outside the English department. Shame about their slogans, though, because I imagine some of the faculty would have some good...
