Do you enjoy action movies? Then may I recommend Braven, which is an action film. It’s set in winter, so we assumed Momoa wouldn’t take off his shirt—but he did! That plus the most hardcore villain dispatch maneuver we’ve seen in a long time differentiate it.

Do you enjoy horror with a twist premise? Then may I recommend Abigail, whose twist is revealed in the trailer and the movie is just what it says on the tin, but it executes it so well that it you’ll realize the twist was just to get you in the seat. The rest is the cast, writing, direction, and everything else all coming together to...

I've heard good things.  Will watch
Do you enjoy brilliant action rom-com thrillers? Then may I recommend The Fall Guy, which was delightful fun to a degree I haven’t experienced in a theater in a long time. Amazing stunts—obviously of course—but also wonderful characters in a well-directed perfectly cast engaging plot. Can’t recommend it enough!

Do you enjoy remakes that improve on the original? Then may I recommend Road House (2024), which is, surprisingly I know, innovatively directed with great barroom brawl fight choreography including fist cams, face cams, and I think chest cams. It’s also quite aware of itself, including in-character references to its own genre. Good one-liners, good main character. Good tone, especially at the start. All ‘n’...

I made an anti-post to this one, sight unseen.  I trust your cinematic judgement, @abashima.  I will watch it.  I hope you are right.  ;-}>

Do you enjoy action movies that are somehow simultaneously by-the-numbers and don’t know what they want to be—with noticeably terrible writing supporting bad dialogue? Then may I recommend The Bricklayer which, on top of everything else, has ridiculously overwrought and distractingly pompous music.

Also, it seems that the lead, Ecker, spent the movie auditioning to be the voice actor for the next Batman game, wiring...

Do you enjoy well acted and written dramas with not so much twists but with fascinating developments? Then may I recommend Baby Reindeer, which has lots of emotion and pulls hard, so you have to have enough emotional strength to hang on. We watched the whole series in one sitting. That was a bit of a punch—but it was worth it.

Do you enjoy passable remakes of not-so-good originals? Then may I recommend Rabid (2019), which isn’t bad. There are no surprises anywhere in the film, alas, and it suffers from not having the budget it really wants—but it still does a respectable amount with what it has. It’s fine. 🙂

Do you enjoy big budget big silly big action comedy movies? Then may I recommend Argylle, a film that is goofy and when viewed through that lens, it’s a good entertainment. It’s Fantasy, and there’s a corridor fight with multicolored smoke that is all kinds of amazing and wonderful.

But listen: it features a lead that’s atypical in an important away—she’s not thin or muscular...

Do you enjoy incomplete horror movies that stop way short of their theoretical potential? Then may I recommend Night Swim, which has the start of an interesting idea—but seems dedicated to not fleshing it out then resolving in a trite and underwhelming manner. Oh well, ho hum.

Just saw the premiere and golly! Perfect! Much looking forward to the rest. We’re going to space them out to enjoy longer. Like radiation sickness! Also, I’ll never look at Vault Boy’s thumbs up the same way again. 👍

I can't wait to watch this show. When I have time. I played all the games. Giddy as a schoolboy.
