I wrote, on paper, for a long time on Sunday in a cafe with my friend, and it was satisfying. We wandered around the East Village, had cupcakes (I know, I do that every weekend now, apparently), went to Babeland, and ended our day with a good little buzz from our favorite margaritas. I spoke to the Brazilian ex that I really should forget about,...

So, my landlady's son goes to the school here in Queens where there have been 8 confirmed cases of swine flu. So far he feels fine and his school's closed, of course, but I wasn't aware of any of this until I saw it on the news tonight. I got this funny feeling when they mentioned a high school in Queens, and when I...

I'm currently in love with:
-Ira Glass
-David Strathairn
-the Upper East Side (for the big luscious tulips everywhere, blossoming trees, handsome buildings, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and for pets whose lives are more luxurious than those of many people)
-the scent of my new shampoo and conditioner (coconut-y)
-working out to Radiohead and RJD2
-cold apples
-Salman Rushdie

I'm thoroughly disenchanted with:
-pizza...

One more item to add to my neverending travel wishlist: I want to go ride Icelandic ponies in the Vermont countryside. This farm looks like so much fun. I'm sure it'd be amazing in the fall. I remember how sore I used to be after the day-long trail rides I used to go on when I was a teenager, but I think the smaller size...

It is like really the day to do personal inventory.

I'm so addicted to In Treatment. Gabriel Byrne, Dianne Wiest, and Hope Davis...how could I not watch? I couldn't sleep last night and it was on back to back. I think I might miss my therapist.wink

I had a heart-stopping meal today with siamkittie for her birthday, outside in the sunshine: fresh calamari dripping with lemon juice, a Parisian burger (medium rare, topped with oozing...

Got a vet question for ya:

Why does my dwarf hamster scream when I pick him up and put him back in his cage? He's very friendly, but when I put him back in the cage, he goes to the wall and scratches it like crazy and lets out this sound that's almost like he's frustrated. It sounds like a scratched record or something. It isn't a scared scream, like how he screams if he sees another hamster. It's a frustrated sound. Weird.

Ask your vet friends for me?

Atlanta was a blur. Not enough time to do anything! Mellythepirate was good company and a very patient guest. My grandma and my great aunt kicked me out of the kitchen on Easter, essentially, but I didn't complain because I got to eat their awesome food. I didn't have time to cook anyway.frown My dogs were good boys for the most part and I got...

My favorite chihuahua is boarding at work. He is of course tiny but is actually pretty obese for his breed, snorts like a little pig, is very old, and can't keep his entire tongue in his mouth. We call him Football, Tripod, and, my personal favorite, Truffle Pig, but he's a little love and has fixated on me. He spent a large portion of the...

Hey you. A lot of travel lately, hence time off the computer (internet) generally and SG specifically.

I feel like, apart from that, I have little-to-nothing to report. Work and more work, occasional nights out with (e.g. SG) friends, but not much else. I think that's why I don't update much now. "What do I have to say?" Ha.

I caught a cold on the UK trip a few weeks back, but that's cleared up now.

That's my exciting life. wink

I looooved midnight's children. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Today I had lunch at a client's very smoky, bizarrely decorated Park Ave. apartment so her dog wouldn't be alone while she was out for meetings (she works from home). So, I ate my banana chocolate chip muffin with Ruby the English springer spaniel, who didn't notice I was there and basically just walked in circles, ignored the bacon hamburger they left for her on...

This weekend involved (in no particular order):
-delicious food
-endless traipsing about the city on foot (I have blisters but they were so worth it!)
-new books (Midnight's Children and The Book of Dead Philosophers)
-extravagant Madison Ave. window shopping
-Nutella on mini croissants
-decidedly spring-like weather
-the Frick on a late Sunday morning (Velzquez, Goya, Hans Holbein the Younger, Rembrandt, oh my!)
-serious barbecue...

"Extravagant window shopping"= the huh?
volkov:
yay new books! gah. I've been wanting to read Midnight's Children forever. you'll have to let me know what you think of it when you get to it.
I need to buy more nutella. I ran out. I was having nutella and peanut butter on toast for breakfast a lot for a while.
I wish Texas weather would make up its mind. We got back down to freezing last night. it was warm for a while and it's supposed to be 90 degrees again in a couple days....crazy.
bbq and boobs sounds like the best kind of weekend.

what is wearing on you? it sounds like a good weekend? frown

I had such a great weekend. I skipped work Saturday, so Alzy and I attended Dr. Sketchy's anti-art school at the Slipper Room. There were free cupcakes (admittedly, the main draw for us) and a hot pinup model for us to sketch. We had a few drinks to get the creative juices flowing and got off to a good start, but it was hard to...
