Southern California does not agree with me.

I'm laying in a hotel room, and the nicest thing I can say is that the air conditioning works. Well, it's clean. That's a plus. There are coasters? Is that worth noticing in a hotel nowadays? I dunno. All I know is that I'm paying $10 for this wifi connection so I'm going to keep typing until I...

Today I am reminded of the immortal words of Homer Simpson who said:

If he's so smart, how come he's dead?

So true. Take that Copernicus.
d_day:
Homer may be the wisest man alive.

And he'll never die.

I might have a writing gig. Like, someone might actually pay me to type words and then they will put them in a document and sell that document to people. Almost like a real job or something.

And who would do such a thing, you would be totally justified in asking? And what would they possibly think I could write that would be worth money?...

That is a pretty sweet gig.

In my search of video entertainment I found an amazing thing. It's Birdhouse In Your Soul only hard rockin'. I don't know what John was on that night (be it a drug, a drink, or the crowd), but it's now my favorite version of Birdhouse.

Fucking awesome.

I have had Vista since 9 this morning. It's been installed and working since 11. For the last 4 hours I've been downloading and installing drivers and Windows updates, and I've already decided I fucking hate Vista. Actually, I knew that after I spent an hour wrestling with the internet connection (which ended up not really Windows fault, but I'm going to blame it anyway...

I know that it's not a party if it happens every night. Pretending there's glamour and candelabra while you're drinking by candle light. What does it take to get a drink in this place? - The Postal Service

My PC died when I got home from dialysis on Saturday. I was too tired to deal with it then, and decided on a much simpler course...

I bought FFVII a while back and played it on my PS2. Still awesome.

Funny, I've built all but one of the boxes I've owned, using mostly parts scored on the cheap from camputer shows, and I've yet to have any single piece of hardware fail.

Imagine you are stuck in a chair for 3-4 hours. Just imagine that much. I won't try and get you to imagine the whole dialysis experience. It really sucks, and will never be a ride at Universal Studios. But I think any of us who have survived elementary school education can imagine being stuck in a chair for several hours. Only there is no recess,...

DaVita doesn't want to pay it and didn't prepare for the switch because they already collected their money when they sold the units.

I would not doubt for a second that Comcast is pulling this for no real reason. I am shocked though. I've been hearing more of these kinds of stories and previously I thought the conversion was only going to affect folks using rabbit ears.

Is anyone able to use a laptop during dialysis. I apologize if that's a stupid question. If not that, maybe they could bring in a hypnotist.

Oh hey, I'm moving to Portland in August. Hopefully coming over before then to find a house.

I don't think I would be a good owner of a restaurant. As much as I love food, the whole business and manager aspects of running a place are probably beyond me. People go to school for that kind of thing. Me, I just like eating... and sitting... and drinking. I think I'm really good at all three of those (except maybe the drinking part,...

The $145 Pint of Ice Cream ...or How Bank of America Stole All of My Money

It started on a Friday. Actually, technically, it started on a Monday, when I made a charge through SOE for something in Everquest 2. On Friday, however, is when several new debits were made that caused everything to go hell.

On this Friday, Raseny had taken the day off...

I despise BofA. I once had a savings account with them. After a few months of only depositing money in it, I had less than I started with. That is pretty much the exact opposite of a savings account.
d_day:
Ah yes, BofA fuck you right good. Almost all banks have some sneaky tactics to raise cash using thse fees. For instance: if a person has say ten debits that total $30, and one large debit for say $200, all about a day apart. The small debits came first, and did not result in an overdraft. The large debit came last, and caused an overdraft of $25. The bank will actually change the order of the debits, so that the large one comes first, and then NSF charges can be added to each of the small debits. It's a nasty tactic that seems to be legal, however unethical it may seem.

On a personal note, I will never do anything that causes BofA to gain money. I had an account with them almost 15 years. I ended up closing it one day, primarily because I was tired of their poor customer service. 3 days after I closed the account and zeroed the balance, BofA approved an automatic deduction, that I had forgotten to stop, on the closed account. So, the bank paid someone 20 some odd dollars, and then tacked on an NSF fee. All this after the account was closed. Naturally, I refused to pay. Naturally, they gave the debt to a collection agency, and also reported me to ChexSystems. The collection agency will not get a dime. Having a record with ChexSystems means I can't open any new checking accounts with other banks for five years. Since I had already opened an account prior to closing the first, that's not going to matter. BofA will never get a dime from me, and that's the way I like it.

I was a very angry teenager. Suprised right? Totally. And you should be, considering what a calm, rational and down to Earth person I am now. But I wasn't always like this. Oh no. Once I was problematic for my elders. I defied them and did what I wanted. Thankfully for me all I really wanted was not to go to school, and to be...

I've been pulled back into the world of Everquest 2. Well... maybe not pulled. I was invited, and sort of made myself comfortable on EQ2's couch. It's been a pretty gracious host, and I see a lot of faces from my recent past wandering in and out. They say hi, reminisce, and share a few laughs. I think a couple of them are unpacking their...

It has been one hell of a week. Last Saturday Cody arrived from Orange County. Sunday was my birthday, and at the end of the night we saw Star Trek. Which was awesome. How awesome? Happy belated. Sounds like a good one.

I've been to Doug Fir!

I love Seattle, but don't think I could live there.

The only good thing about the Kayne video that shot on the lot a few months back was the Galaga machine he had brought in.

This ends my collection of random thoughts. There were more, but only these made the cut.
