An editorial in today's San Diego Union-Tribune really got my attention and summed up some of the things I have noticed the current administration has done regarding science and environmental issues. The U/T is pretty conservative as far as mainstream newspapers go, but San Diego has a very large research and science community and I think this guy is pretty tuned into that. Check it...

It's amazing this is going on when you think about this one quote from the article:
Global warming is not a partisan issue, it affects us all, Republicans, Democrats, Greens, whatever.

It's not like I worry about it every day, but crazy shit can happen in a relatively short time frame (decades, not that The Day After Tomorrow crap). Methane hydrates melting offshore, rapid greenhouse warming, sea level rise, climate shifts (fertile areas move north, desert expands).

The fact that the US backed out of the Kyoto Treaty thanks to George W is a huge issue and one that is definitely overlooked.

do you see the way that tree bends?
does it inspire?
leaning out to catch the sun's rays
a lesson to be applied
are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?
you can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who can't forgive yourself, oh
makes much more sense to...

So I took The Boy to the park today, the biggest park in the area with the best playground. It's tight, two sets of swings, a huge jungle gym area with bridges, muchos slides, different kinds of ladders, circular monkey bars, tire swing, the works.

Set up RIGHT NEXT to the swing set was a big yellow tent. Pretty cool birthday party getup, I thought....

Damn, what park were you at?? And the owner's manual had better have EXTREMELY DETAILED DIAGRAMS. You know, for the liberals.
missfire:
Sorry. blush Military, ya know. The conservatives give me bigger raises, and it's all about the bucks.

Random Thought #1:
Does anybody play Freecell on their computer? It's a tough game to master and at first you lose more than you win. I started playing again at work today after a significant layoff, and looked at my stats. Over the course of about a year I have:
379 wins
77 losses
83% win percentage

Longest streaks:
45 Wins
3 Losses

Damn I'm...

yeah the gloves definatley come off...especially considering the puppet "love" scene.

aLso, i agree that girls play game head games. However, i think most of the time they just dont have the courtesy to be honest and tell you they dont wanna hang out...so therefore they pretend to be interested and never follow through. it's sad but true.

Nothing frustrates me more than situations that are beyond my control. When an issue affects me significantly but I am powerless to do anything about it. Not because I'm a wuss (which I sometimes am) but because it is simply beyond my control, like the weather or the forward march of time. I will go from feeling anxiety and anger to a helpless, uncaring depression...

Ratio of good/bad in life - 5/6 good in my book - not all can be good all the time. The bad must be there in order for balance. Good/Bad ratio in you life can easily be figured by calculating years spent in health and those not. Try it and you might find that now just might be the time period needed for bad in order to balance the good you have had in yours....who knows....more then likely I am just speaking out of my ass. I do that from time to time.

know a man, his face seems pulled and tense
like he's riding on a motorbike in the strongest winds
so i approach with tact
suggest that he should relax
but he's always moving much too fast
said he'll see me on the flipside
on this trip he's taken for a ride
he's been taking too much on
there he goes with his perfectly unkept clothes...

Why is it people who work for the govenment feel that they have to live up to the stereotypes?

I know what you're thinking; government workers are lazy, overpaid, inefficient, etc. You're right!!

It is amazing. People at my work do nothing for weeks at a time so that when the deadline gets there they have to work OVERTIME to get it done. Therefore they...

That was awesome!!! Thank you!

and, btw, don't waste your time looking through my old journals - by the time I got on SG, I was so freaking sick and tired of talking about it that I kind of skipped over it... but it is a significant part of my life because I'm still physically trying to recover (and emotionally too, but I don't share that very much) so it's been mentioned here and there (such as 'goddamn doctors won't let me go back to work' and 'goddamn doctors are making me do this and that' and 'goddamn...')
But, yeah, apparently, I'm a magnet for large vehicles... since the cement truck, I've had 3 near-misses (2 buses and a flatbed) and got run off the road by a delivery truck that decided he wanted to be in my lane, even though I was right there.
(thank god I had a passenger in all but one instances... otherwise I would honestly think I've gone insane!)

Anyhow, hope your weekend was great and that you are making yourself at home here wink

(btw... you honey's great... but... can you put in a good word for me cause... umm... there's this lipstick and umm... yeah... I don't want to get hurt skull )
