I'm reposting this from my myspace blog entry last night. It's been really, really hard, but we're hanging in there.

Endings

My dad, Hubert Houston Ramsey, passed away earlier this evening. I can't say much now, both because words aren't coming easily and because I have to get mom home. I'll just repeat that he was the most good, loving, fundamentally decent man I've ever...

I am reallly sorry for your lose, and I know really there is no words that will comfort you to much at a time like this, other then hang in there and let youself mourn.

thank you so much for your comment on my self shot set.

this may be a little delayed, but i'm very sorry for the loss of your father. i couldn't imagine losing my own; i had such a difficult time losing my grandfather in december. i hope you have found ways to continue your father's life in your actions and the lessons you teach others.

Trouble

So, I haven't been around here much lately. What's happened is my dad has been in the hospital for the past week. Things have basically gone from OK to bad to really bad to possibly on their way back toward OK. If you'd like to read more of the details, you can go to the last couple of entries in my myspace blog....

New Year's Eve

Otherwise known as the holiday designed to make single folks feel bad.

Never had much joy on NYE. It always seemed to be the province of people who were far cooler than me. smile

I'm not sure what I'll do tonight - the decision is among going to see The Flaming Lips downtown, going to a movie, or staying at home and watching...

thank you smile

I think the nervousness is actually my problem. If I feel home, comfortable and very confident when I get to know the people and the surroundings. but when everything is new I am behaving pretty insecure. I feel observed and judged and having troubles to keep my thoughts together. its weird, like in a blackbox or something. also I cant stand when people concentrate on me too much, I am always wondering "what is he/she thinking about what I just said?" etc etc. I had a lot of practice already but it seems something I cant get used to. lol. maybe I should really take a coaching.
bexi:
that are great advices. Ill def. keep that in mind. smile

Sophie Jane Darr

I've been following the life of this little girl for many months now. Sophie was an incredibly brave, spunky, beautiful three year old who was fighting brain cancer. There were points along the way when it seemed like progress was being made, but it wasn't to be. Sophie lost her battle this morning.

The random cruelty that life sometimes brings to us...

Thanks - it's so easy to get lost in the technical aspects, and since there's no clear winner it just gets overwhelming!

Ice Ice Baby

Most of our state has been entombed in a 1/4" thick sheet of ice today. It came sooner than predicted, and I was not exactly well-prepared. After a somewhat humorous struggle I was finally able to get the car door open - right now it's idling with the heater on, slowly melting the ice from all the glass. Freezing rain is still...

New Interview: Kitty Kowalski

She's a force of nature, with more irons in the fire than a convention full of blacksmiths, but mostly she's the driving force behind an amazing rock & roll band, coincidentally named Kitty & The Kowalskis. I was honored to have this opportunity - check out our hot off the presses interview at The Cover Zone with the incredible Ms....

hi honey, thanks for looking into that! I came up with the same thing but still had the problem of ending up with two vehicles. My best friend teri volunteered to come out and help drive across country, but then we end paying gas on two vehicles. haha.. man this moving thing was alot easier when I 18 smile

Worries never accomplish a damn thing. I'm usually great with handling my stresses but the last few weeks have been just a bit much for even me. Thanks for the kind (repeated) kind words.

The Furniture Mogul Speaks the Truth

We have a long, uniue history of country music playing furniture store dynasties here in OKC. Recently Bob Mills, "The Working Man's Friend", was interviewed in our local newspaper. Asked about the fact that he gave up the musical part of his enterprise many years ago, his response was succinct and trite but true: "you can do anything, but...

Giving Thanks

I'm off to my parents' house for a day of tryptophan and televised football. I'm not a fan of the Macy's Parade - I love parades in general, but I hate that the Macy's deal is mostly crappy made-for-tv song & dance numbers that have absolutely nothing to do with the parade. The Rose Parade is the model I enjoy.

Anyway, I am...

Watched a really good movie tonight - Conversations With Other Women. Beautifully conceived by Gabrielle Zevin and Hans Canosa, exquisitely acted by Helena Bonham-Carter and Aaron Eckhart. It led me to post this on my MySpace page:

Feeling a lot of wildly conflicting emotions tonight. Knowing I've made many mistakes in my life, but still uncertain of the most effective remedial actions. Thinking about situations...

Decisions...

(reposted from my myspace blog)

Been pondering considerably of late as to what I ought to do with the rest of my life. Answers seem to be few and far between, but I am increasingly more sure that I can't force myself to feel a burning passion for something about which I'm not inherently passionate. That seems likely to rule out most of my...

Thanks for good wishes. Luckily, all my health issues are due to being clumsy. LOL.

I don't think it matters how old you are when you take up an instrument or you start to play rock n roll. If you don't feel like you have any natural talent, it could really help to take some lessons from someone who specializes in R n R-- sometimes it takes a "gift" to write the stuff that makes you a rockstar, but it only takes playing with formulas and using a little creativity to write some sweet riffs. half the time I go out to see local rock n roll bands at bars, theyre all "grown ups" ... If you've the got rhythm, give it a shot! Cheers!
tigerlily:
thank you. it's good to know that someone can relate to what is happening for me right now. kiss
