So the Seattle Occultural Musick Festival was an interesting gig, one of the members of our group didn't even show up (the guy forgot to ask his boss for the day off), however we were the first act to perform for the evening, and the last act to perform too. Not having been the only act, there was a whole slew of acts between the two times I got to take to the stage. The whole night was quite a blast, lots of interesting noise, lots of drinking, and I was suprised at how many friends showed up to the event as well.
My two favorite performances of the night were "Tempered Steel" who just played these finger pianos through a whole bunch of effects and, Agnes Szelag, from Oakland, she played a cello, looped it through her laptop, she played a singing bowl, she was beautiful, and she sang even better. She was awesome.
So, as I said though the group I was with was the first and the last to perform for the night and it was a very long night. I think perhaps our "frontman" was feeling that (and perhaps the alcohol) more strongly than the rest of us because he somehow decided the best way to end our set and simultaneously clear the building was to spray everyone down with a fire extinguisher. It was quite effective as you might imagine, however it was totally not planned and a lot of the people there initially seemed to perceive it to be quite rude. Whatever, he stayed way late to clean up his mess, nobody was seriously hurt. It felt good to play out live again too. Not the kind of stuff I'd typically be trying to go out and do but the gig was fun regardless; and there may be more shows to come here in the near/distant future. I'll keep everyone informed as I can.
