my friend and i used to put them in each others hair. she would do dreads on me with real hair and for the dreaded effect you boil the hair. and on her we would use multi-colored yarn. it was really beautiful. it looked like she had brightly colored really soft hair. if you want someone to do it at low cost you should check out a cosmetology student. my homie does that sorta stuff.....
