but I meant it in joking fashion since I just returned from vacation last week :D
I didn't really do an "official" return posting, but was still 'recovering' from vaca... forgives!
but I did give a short version breakdown, so you'll just have to settle with that ;)
...this week has been interesting and frustrating in semi-equal fashion
a big chunk of the week is finding out the smrtphone I had purchased just before the roadtrip and had with me on the trip was never functioning correctly :(
BUT... as of last night I have an exchanged smrtphone which is functioning correctly *yay!*
my e-cel still works as usual - and still has such a hellish amount of useable time I don't know if it'll ever run out *smirks*
kinda sad - to some - that I'm so pre-tech that I didn't realize what a smrtphone should've been able to do *shrugs*
oh well, so I'm a tad luddite, I'll live
now that my smrtphone is functioning, sadly my PC is starting to have issues ( though admittedly Romero is no longer a young pup :( )
having witnessed/dealt with the new Windows ( Windows 10, I believe it is? ), I can hopefully search for a 'new' PC that has Vista or XP
...since I know that much of what I use will not work on the new Windows, not to mention how annoying it feels - a PC should not act nor look like a smrtphone, it's a PC, demn it!
and the fact that so many programs that worked over multiple platforms are defunct on it is another clincher of dislike
ANYways... Romero's not dead yet, just... dying... slowly...
thankfully I have a back-up external drive I can save stuff to ( Note To Self: do so! )
work is already going better than it had pre-vaca, with a chunk of backed-up stuff caught up and slightly less chaos...
partially due to having trained some things with others - though I still have a few things to train to take off my docket
having projects & items on docket is part of the job... but not so much that I'm weeks or months behind, as opposed to the expected multiple days worth of work on docket !!
'course, the more we've expanded and shifted, the more that's been put on to my docket - is was an overall assumption at one point that anything someone else didn't want to do was auto-categorized as under my belt...
the GM - thankfully? - disagrees with how much is on my docket and trying to alleviate the pressure and expectation
...not that I minded or ever let it bother me - I like my job and the place where I work - but when EVERYthing is considered a priority AND mine to do, then NOthing is a priority and many things fall to the backdrop/will-do-when-time-permits
which, everyone agreed, is not acceptable... however no one was agreeing on how to handle it or if anyone should do it other than me
- until most recently when everyone was bitching that their needs weren't getting completed timely ( *go figure* )
sorry, but there's only one of me... not that anyone would want to clone ME! *laughs*
someone set me up with the 'tinder' thing *laughs*
...similar people to those who put me on multiple dating sites in the past, to which not a single response other than two spammers on two different sites in the past decade
( Poni, RIP, had put me on pay dating sites... and got her money back from those that "gauranteed" a date *smirks*
she'd been a proponent of 'tinder' before I had the ability to do so... but she always was a fiesty li'l friend :) )
not too shocking that a similar thing happened on 'tinder' already... someone started a convo, then a couple days later - BAM! the curtain was pulled and the spammer revealed *sighs*
they started sending links leading to costly adult sites 'before we can meet' coupled with suddenly their pics and details changing... and the info they'd convo'd me
- shocker! //sarcasm//
never did see their last message, due to the smrtphone failure, but since they completely disappeared I honestly don't care what it was
BUT... the entire thing is a non-surprise, as I'm fairly certain I'm undateable - or at least it'll be a couple more decades before I meet someone again...
after all, I've only been in *4* relationships in 25+ years, only one of which lasted longer than 40 days
I've posted before how, mathematically, another relationship isn't likely until I'm in my 100s - so halfing that would be my 50s
I mean, I can still use the demn thing, but I have zero expectation - I'm been single 95% of my adult life already
hells, the last time I even kissed someone I still had teeth, wasn't yet grey, and hadn't yet gained the 50lbs that refuse to go away *laughs*
too bad prostitution isn't legal and trustable ;) ( kidding, kidding! )
ANYways...
the week has flown by, despite the frustrations - and now that the weather has gotten so much better, I can't wait to get moving a little bit this weekend :)
figure if I get in the mood for it, I'll walk the 2hrs to the Plymouth 15 and catch a few flicks - Infinity War is playing, but haven't seen Black Panther yet, which is also playing there
...so maybe I'll catch the one, then the next, as a double-feature ??
there's also Super Troopers 2 - and I loved the first one :D
who knows... it's still a bit before Satyr Day mornin'
for now, Farethee Well, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk... keep Loving and Living Life !
a mess of twittage ::
4/21 : kudos to the Mark Twain Nat'l Forest recommend for next goal/area to spend a day - it's mid-way, keeps me relatively out of St Louis helltraffic (so it looks anyways), and sounds like a pretty cool area I can reach without driving for days :D
4/22 : Found a little place in the midst of the Nat'l Forest/up in the ozarks
Drove an hour & a 1/2 through the Nat"l Forest to find this, but *before* that from 4p-5:30 : wth-rollercoaster-w/-mid-hill-sudden-turn highways, dirt roads (including an "it's safe"-signed washout where I drove through a stream!), then BAM! in the Nat'l Forest
No, I didn't take pics of the crazy/wild pary, was too paranoid to stop, let alone let go of the wheel! Have no idea when/where AR / MO border crossover happened
4/22 II : based on some o'the "towns" I drove through from Biloxi to Salem (like Warm Springs AR & Wilderness MO), I can honestly say I was "lost in the ozarks' for hour+1/2 - some roads that I probably shouldn't have been on *laughs* - but, hey, it was something to remember, neh? :)
4/23 : gonna hit a couple of very nearby state parks, then start shifting northward... last days of the roadtrip already here *sighs*
* only 1 of the multiple ozark state parks was more than a fish hatchery and/or fishing oriented, so headed northward
4/23 II : Realizing I completely forgot to write a poem yesterday, I've stopped in IA, just outside 'dez moe eenis,' as punishment
that & I'm a bit tired ;)
* don't know if it's more hilarious or saddenimg, but the room lock needs repair - can leave & stay in fine/safely, but only their master key can open it
told 'em to hold on maintenance 'til am, as I'm crashing aftet I feed
4/24 : NOT only did I not write a poem on 112, but the poem I wrote on 110 on my e-cel while at the festival & watching the bands did NOT survive the sending from e-cel to e'mails... a great roadtrip when that, and the hotel lock issue in Iowa, are the only truly negatives from it! :D
4/24 II : why, yes, since I am physically returned and have time left before rental return, I *could* pick up groceries and/or hit Visionworks before this back-up pair decides it's going to die, too - BUT I really don't wanna and still have tomorrow, even if I have to walk for the glasses
4/24 III : mayhaps it's a good idea I said 'screw it' and went to visionplace today... seems they don't do walk-in vision-tests at the nearby locale any longer - other places, yes, but would also have to pick up there ( same place-only ) - and their optometrist is gone 'til mid-may anyway
here's hoping this less-used pair I traveled with survives long enough to either find another place or am able to set up an appt in several weeks... not many places within walking distance where one can get glasses semi-affordably and without a prescription ( s'been 25+ yrs )
4/25 : from talking with the ex earlier today ( following the fire on their block ), I realized on this vacation/adventure/roadtrip, I'd seen THE least animals of any of my prior roadtrips... there ARE animals in the south as well as the ozarks, right ? maybe they just hide better ?
4/28 : in answer to questions already asked about my LA-MS-MO-IA Roadtrip... I have far more memories than photos - when I'm knee-deep in enjoyment and relaxation, the last thing I'm thinking of is "I need a photo of this" - same when I'm around wonderful people, smiling and happy
...also, the new(er) digital camera I have doesn't work that well with my natural shakiness, so most photos are very blurred - when I'm behind the wheel it's impossible ( and dangerous ) to take photos - and I'm just on the cusp of understanding my e-cel and smrtphone for photos
4/28 II : since VW is out of the question ( now requiring insurance at nearest location ), so was able to find an America's Best a 2hr walk away - did have to schedule an eye exam, earliest on the 19th, so hopefully this pair will last 'til then, will probably taxi there ( 2hr walk! )...
4/30 : at least I (kind of) now know why I haven't been able to use mobile data on the smrtphone, only wi-fi... unfortunately two different online chat convos weren't able to resolve the issue (yet) - can't change the APN, for some reason can't add or reset to default :( *sigh*
5/1 : *frustrated* had me do the SAME things over again - including a factory data reset - still unable to access mobile... end suggestion : "exchange the device. We can transfer the phone number and the services to the new device" ...guess there's a Target visit tomorrow *yeesh*
5/2 : the smrtphone, which I have affectionately dubbed 'Cronenberg' is alive - truly and fully a smrtphone ! *yay* ...*whew* what a challenge to get to this point. on a side note, now my PC is starting to act wonky *sighs* :(
5/3 : morning ponderance : people are complaining about a hands-free cel driving law about cel usage being a "right" - yet people are complaining about gun ownership saying it's NOT a right ( despite the Bill Of Rights that prove the latter )...
