As of this mornin', I have the part of the late-April vaca set-in-stone : rental car is set-up and paid for, so assuming there's no issue this time with getting picked up, we're gonna be good to go...
so just 10 weeks away and I'll be in the midst of another roadtrip - seems a ways away but I know how time tends to fly, and I still need to pick up/order a couple things for said trip
For the first-leg of the trip, I'm Southward Bound :D - going to see a friend or two in Louisiana ( no, I'm not gonna drive the entire ~17hrs, but'll see how far I get on the first day )
so a li'l visitation and from there just some random 'tripping in an area of the US I've never been before I head back to the forgotten northlands
SO... If ANYone has any ideas of what I should probably check out or see while I'm in the Mid-South US and working my way up, let me know !!!
ANY suggestions would be cool - I've never been, so have ZERO idea what to check out or expect
...though I do want to try to avoid the big cities themselves as much as possible, since I'm driving and don't want to spend hours in a city's traffic for any reason if I can avoid it...
besides, you can find such wonderful things on the outskirts or outside of the cities *smiles*
since this'll be my 3rd roadtrip-vacation, once a year, I suppose I should just consider my Random Roadtrips a yearly thing ?
I get a kick out of it, so why not, neh ?
aye - I still intend to get out of the country one of these years, now that I have a passport...
BUT car rentals are the cheapest vacation possible, so I'll continue with Random Roadtrips until I can afford more :)
no, I have NO idea what I'm going to do with my early-July vaca time but it's on the calendar
kinda surprised I haven't heard a particular co-worker bitch on that accord, since I usually have to cover for her during that time period, but since she didn't have anything on the calendar, I took the slot ;)
elsewise, as I mentioned - kinda mental...
someone else I know died, so that's two this year ( not a great start to the year, being only just over a month in! :( )
additionally, I got a call from my Fathre ( finally? ) - who I hadn't been able to get ahold of since July...
not that that's uncommon for us, honestly... it's just that he's no young pup anymore and tends to only call with bad news or to respond to the same
this time : his sister, who has been dealing with dementia, is in a hospital in FL and not doing very well, it sounds ( not dementia-related, but not cool :( )
so... in addition to the recent deaths and the friend I mentioned in previous posts who is terminal, I also have an aunt who's not doing well *sighs*
didn't think it'd get to me... I'm pretty used to death(s) and people I know not being well in relation to...
BUT... it's wrapped and wriggled its way into my brain this time
reminding me of outside of work and my daughters, I do so very, very little - with the few still-living friends living so very far away and heard from so very little
again, it's not uncommon - I tend to see my friends once a decade or so - but realizing that I'm still semi-young and in recent years have done so little
*shrugs*
in my 20s I did a LOT - including drinking heavily *smirks* - aye, most of what I did was local to where I lived and included a lot of random volunteering opportunities ( that no longer exist )
even in my some parts of my 30s I still did a few things, though not to the extent of my 20s
if it wasn't for my vacationing in the past few years+ - including the Random Roadtrips - I'd really be doing nothing but working outside of my weekends with my spawnlings
*ponders*
and even though I LOVE my new yearly Random Roadtripping, it's still... not much.
aye, when weather's warm ( summer, baby! ) I take random walks after work and can wander for hours on weekends
...but even that I get burnt out on after awhile, since I'm not actually going anywhere or doing anything but walking areas I've been around for years now
no, I don't know how to change that - not a lot of opportunities here nor people I know nearby to do things with *shrugs*
I'll survive, I always do, and I've always been more of a loner-type who just up-and-does things on a whim...
*ACH* and ANYways... you've heard my Battleplans and dealt with my Rantings enough for one post :)
Farethee well, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk - and, again - ANY Suggestions for the Mid-South US-and-up Random Roadtrip, Let me know !
( and, yes, I am still writing at least a poetica a day... hasn't killed me yet )
gathered twittage ::
1/27 : news commercials very V-day focused - just reminds me how rare I've had a V-day date... and how the only remembered one was a beautiful candle-lit table in a favourite restaurant - which my then-SO set-up so she could let me know she'd cheated on me... again...
1/29 : 'love' the "oh, that never happened" types - concerning incidents in one's own life, no less, that they knew nothing about previously... once you get past the initial desire to crack open their skulls to discover what went wrong, they can be mildly amusing in their annoyance
* I've even recently been "informed" that I never was in a car accident, let alone staples in my skull and a crack that still remains - despite being shown a photo of the car and given allowance to feel the skull crack and free reign to talk to other parties involved and around at the time *yeesh* *
1/30 : *laughing* turned on TV to suddenly see Piff The Magic Dragon on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire ... normally I'd switch to roku or blu ray player, but Piff is bleedin' hilarious, even on a TV game show :)
1/30 II : first State of the Union address in a long time where I haven't felt like destroying the hell out of the tv or end up turning it off completely PO'd ... other than the unnecessary religious bits, a very good State of the Union showing actual pride in our nation and its citizens
1/31 : why is it so incredulous that, yes, it's "been a decade since" - didn't even have my 1st kiss 'til 18, or further 'til 21, haven't even been on a date since last century...
1/31 II : 45 poetica written in these first 31 days, a poetica (plus) per day - so far so good, only... 334 days?... to go - *whew*
1/31 III : I hadn't weighed myself in exactly 6 months & lost exactly 1lb ... active, inactive, never made a difference with my weight, even the season a few years back that I gained the 55lbs which have decided they're here to stay *sighs* ( same amount the ex-wife lost - coincidence ? )
2/1 : *laughing* THIS time turning on the tv it's Penn & Teller on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - actually enjoying catching part of a game show ( not normal for me ) :)
2/1 II : 'twas a bit painful but finally got rid of a front tooth shard that'd been driving me batty most of the day and part of last night... was a piece that wasn't showing ( visible part of tooth long gone ), but with some effort it's outta there ! *whew*
2/2 : different people will always have different standards, different needs, different desires - what is good to one can equate to the opposite for another, "good" is subjective, "great" even moreso, particularly when it comes to personalities, attitudes, abilities, and expectations
2/3 : maybe I shouldn't be amused, but knowing that local restaurants & groceries were unprepared for the influx of SB people and chains've already had to "raid" sister-stores, leaving some 'burb restaurants & groceries with low stock & nigh-emptied shelves - welcome to the Cities
2/3 II : yes, "the memo" vindicates Trump - why this surprises anyone surprises me... it had already been admitted that Hillary didn't earn her place on the ballot and paid illegals to get people to vote ...the American people already chose Trump, legally and officially (29 of 50 states)
