no issue with the flights/airports, in fact on the return trip I was singled out and essentially expedited through DEN ( didn't even have to run anything through the x-ray, just the metal detector where I was asked to remove my belt then good )
girls enjoyed their first flights without issue/problems :)
the hotel was less than spectacular - particularly for a hotel on most top 5/top 10 lists... makes us wonder just how bad the other hotels must be !
tiny pool, many obvious repair issues, miniature bathroom, confused employees... disappointing overall
the day I was able to use it, Denver has great light rail/bus system - very unlike the local system which completely sucks balls and is less than useful (unless you already live downtown)
Denver downtown is... interesting
the homeless are either drunk or high and everywhere - as are the random protesters where it's rare to find even a small section protesting the same thing
...including some "filler" protesters who didn't even know what they were protesting and when questioned were "protesting because it's [their] right to protest" ... yeaaaaaah, o-tay ?!
good luck getting photos of any of the statues or architecture without a dirty look from the homeless and/or protesters using it and maybe moving when they see a camera and realize it's not pointed directly at them
*yeesh*
the Museums, Zoos, etc are top-par, however... could spend an entire day if the weather wasn't wearing down a daughter or two :D
nice thing about the heat is that, VERY unlike local heat, it doesn't include the unbearable humidity and you can actually get cool in the shade !
seriously - this was absolutely amazing for me/us who put up with the killer-humid summer heat... thank you, Denver ! <3
so, aye, it went overall well and we enjoyed our week in the "mile-high city"
though, admittedly, a week is a bit too much for the city
bits o'twittage::
7/14 : clothes picked out, cords found and readied, electronics & camera charged - just gotta figure out a way t'fit 'em into my bag(s) *sighs*
7/15 : another accident at the intersection - area full of idiot drivers, this time a distracted mother turns fast into a suddenly stopped pick-up
7/21 : back in the land of bilk and muggy... cooling down the apartment to make it livable again and then, I suppose, unpack and relax...
7/23 : dreamage : children of the corn-like scenario involving sentient ferrofluid and a mechanical engineering station instead of farm community
