so... in just 6+ weeks or so, I should have a passport on my hands - how crazy is that?!?
didn't even realize the nigh-timing of it, either - since this coming Mon the 27th is when I first moved to the Cities back in 01 - boy, does time fly, neh?
I took the day off for this endeavour - after all, how long did I know it was going to take... particularly in that the place itself had signage stating passport applicants should be prepared for long wait times...
mayhaps it helped that I arrived shortly after they opened and I was ticket #2 ?
ANYways, since this mornin' I've spent this vacation day being just... lazy *laughs*
- gotta do it once in awhile, neh ?
so, aye, this 8th Week of the year I've done a wee bit more than just spend my non-work hours lazing around the apartment - not that that's a bad thing, mind you, just sayin' :)
I put vacation time in - and got it approved, with a touch of humour from the GM teasing me that there'll be no vacations for the rest of the year ;)
so... May 17th-19th/22nd-26th and July 12th-14th/17th-21st (and weekends in the span 'tween) I will be on vacation
no, I do not have any actual vacation plans - other than the fact I will not be at work, I have no idea what I'll be doing ( other than doing my best to stay sane, of course )
not surprisingly, the moment I even mentioned I was putting in for vaca time I was inundated on fb by "come and visit me"s who largely ignored the statement on the posting that I couldn't affordably make actual plans at this point
*shrugs* oh well...
suppose I should be happy people want to see me - though there is always the fact that some of 'they' have opportunity to see me, and have even been in the Cities but never did so
*shrugs* no worries - that's how my world has always been, so I'm used to it
that'll use up the rest of my vaca time before it re-sets in September, so actually glad I have that out of the way - even if no plannage has occurred for the dates now rendered upon the work calendar
it may not seem a bother to everyone, but to some of us who are still getting used to even having vacation time, let alone that increases every so-many years!, it's a bitch to utilize it, let alone pick random dates that'll work
got through a lot of my workload though the short week as well, so kind of a good thing that we're nearing month end...
I like to keep busy and during the week burned out a few back-burner projects all-too quickly between the usual projects
hopefully this doesn't mean I'll come to a point where the workload hits a stand-still... that'd be awkward and annoying...
though I doubt it, since there's always some sort of project on the horizon and issue rearing that needs resolution
s'been awhile since I'm been near this completely caught up - scary thought
I like having back-burner projects for when the loads lighten... I'm not one to just sit around, and it's nice to get paid, y'know ;)
ANYways... keep smilin' and Livin' Life, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk - for those in my hemisphere, spring is around the horizon... and summer thereafter to enjoy !
bits of twittage ::
2/18 : Funny how some consider me a 'hard, cold' man while to others an 'emotional, caring' man - so who really knows me better ?
2/18 II : *laughs* girls and I just saw the Oscar Meyer wiener car at the intersection a bit ago :)
cool
2/20 : "How can you support gay rights and not support the ACA? That's fucked"
What's fucked is thinking N0bamacare & equal rights are related...
2/21 : gorgeous fog this mornin' - but *shivers* back into pain-temps again... go figure. wintertide ain't over yet, folks !
2/22 : "we need to keep coverage affordable!"
maybe you should've started there - hard to 'keep' something where it never was at the start, neh?
2/22 Ii : the biggest problem with today's "that's offensive!" society is: EVERYthing is offensive to SOMEone and, sorry, but you'll neversolve that!
2/24 : *yeesh* the inundation of advertisements for multiple things stating "now available! on February 28th" - getting one all excited... until they pause and realize, wait, it's not February 28th, what the...?
then looking into it see the small print of "*now available for pre-order in select locations" and can't help but growl and want to hunt them down like the bastards they are
