I have 17 workdays ( 136hrs ) worth of vacation to use by Sept - that's 3 weeks and 2 days to use... in effectively 7 months
and with how time flies, that time will probably pass fast as all get out.
Unfortunately, for as 'easy' as people have told me it is to apply for a passport, I believe they forgot to take into consideration how things are never quite that easy for me...
1) in order to get a passport, I'm going to need a certified birth certificate
ok, that can get done - though in this state I have to apply for one in person in specific locations in the county I was born in
and, to make it just a little more awkward, only some of these certify on location - and even less of them are open on weekends
so... I can get this done, though it'll be not only the expense of the certified birth certificate but also the cost of the taxi to-and-from
2) AFTER several weeks the certified birth certificate arrives and I can apply for a passport ( assuming I have my info correct on where I was born )
ok, that can get done, too - and since I'm applying for my first passport, there's only a few locations I can apply at
and, again with the awkwardness, only some of these locations do everything ( photo, application, etc ) - and even less of them open on weekends ( so far I've only found one! )
so... again, I can get this done, though it'll be the expense of the passport application and passport photo plus cost of the taxi to-and-from
3) now, AFTER several weeks I'll either get my passport or be denied
and IF I get the passport, THEN I can start looking into whether I can afford an international vacation
*whew*
looking into open weekends coupled with saved money to get birth certificate + expense and saving money to get passport + expense
*yeesh* - it's looking like it'll probably already BE summer, or pretty demn close, by the time I'm able to look into affordability of a vaca
AND, lest we forget, I cannot take multiple weeks of my vacation at a time - maybe a week-and-a-half at best
BUT I have to use up the time by Sept
It's beginning to look a lot like I'll be using my vacation time up just at home ( which'll, as usual, drive me absolutely batshit crazy - even long weekends at home drive me nuts )
but at least I'll, hopefully, HAVE a passport to consider an international vacation NEXT year - assuming I can afford it
my fathre was looking into vacation packages for Poland - since it's one place he'd never been when he was in the military and there's places we'd both like to see there
I wonder if I should tell him to put his searching on hold, since I can't gaurantee when I'll even have a passport
:(
ANYways... otherwise this year has been going good, busy as work even with the short week due to the New Year, and my spawnlings will be here this AM for the weekend
Farethee well for now, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk !

I'm pretty sure that's what I implied

after this many decades, you think I care?
