...and in short, I'm disappointed. simply... disappointed.
I suppose I could explain further into at least some of the whys to my disappointment, beyond what should be obvious to many
1) in an included 'letter' with the issue, the second paragraph beings : "The first thing you'll notice is that the magazine feels different."
yes, it does... and to someone who is texture sensitive as myself, it means I can barely touch the thing without wanting to drop it into a lake of fire.
I don't know what the shiny/glossy material is but... *shivers*... it could just as well be silk or satin with how it feels to my hands...
I should not need to wear gloves in order to touch anything I paid for, let alone a magazine *ugh*
2) the overall size has increased - weirdly. it's larger, but awkwardly larger, which also makes it oddly 'floppy.'
the size/shape reminds me of those strange fashion magazines that only sorta-fit into the magazine shelves in markets
...which actually leads me into the next point
3) this new, "moderne," non-nude Playboy is almost exactly like those strange fashion magazines now...
there's just nothing that makes Playboy anything special compared to any other fashion or even men's magazine on the market shelves.
not anymore - which is absolutely saddening... Playboy had been an icon: a powerhouse of suave sexuality, gentility, and humour, it stood out amongst men's magazines and many women I know and knew loved reading it as well ( even looking at the women, too! ).
it was a special magazine because it exuded these things without being an asshole about it, the glossy, photographically-altered nudes giving glimpses into the actuality, the stories and humour pulling you into this both gentlemanly yet sometimes crudely funny world.
it made you want to read it... the graceful, edited-nudes - sometimes of celebrities you only wished you could meet - welcomed you at the doorway and, once you were comfortable you got into everything else the magazine had to offer...
it had you feeling like a king ( or queen ) in an almost Bond-like world where men and women were equals, able to give-and-take in equal measure both in both humour and sexuality, where nothing was truly taboo if you talked about it like a gentleman/woman.
but... no more.
4) the articles were decent, but it's as if they too have been censored and feel just as non-nude as the photos are...
and bland. as if they belong in any other men's magazine on the market, nothing special, just... there. (meh)
5) the humour... ok, give me a sec. a'yep, I just did a quick buzz-through and, yeh, not really. it's humour - lack thereof - is palpable. and saddening.
I think you get the gist of it.
new Playboy = disappointment.
and, no, once this subscription is over, I'm over it. no renewal for me.
I can find any bland men's magazine for cheaper elsewhere, if I wanted to, I'm certain - with just as beautiful of non-nude women.
If you've actually made it this far, the title is nothing more than a play on the date, I'm afraid...
I'm not calling to arms ANYthing
no marching forth unto the breach
no Shakespearean nor Wagnerian drama, operatic or otherwise... these words gather much less rhyme and tribulation upon opening
accept my apologies for the tease...
ANYways... my lovelies and gentlefolk, half yourself a wonderful evening ( the other half is mine ) !
((Thursday [3/3/16] dream/film idea)) ::
An extremely rich father (Dennis Quaid) has been trying to find a husband to his spoiled-brat daughter (Alexis Dziena) 'game-show' style...
one of his mansions was 'split' into five 'zones,' one for each day of the week Monday through Friday...
he suddenly introduces his 'wild card,' a Jr-High student he's been gromming to be just like him, and orders Monday through Friday out of the mansion
BUT... the friendly and laid-back Thursday decides he's not going to leave and, with the assistance of his 'zone's' staff, blockades himself in
his daughter, who hadn't been paying much attention to ANY of the suitors, suddenly shows interest in this activity...
(( ...and when the introductory credits would roll, this is where I wake up... ))

2/27 :
I was asked once upon a time 'what kind of metalhead' I was... 'the denim and leather kind' was my answer... 'course they asked 'but what genre?' 'it's all metal to me, man'
2/27 II :
*ugh* 12hrs later and hallway STILL reeks of fish from neighbours downstairs - plus someone dumped sewing needles in front of my apt ?!?
2/27 III :
weather seems decent, I'm goin' outside and maybe I'll even do the unthinkable, demn it! and you can't stop me... well, unless you find me
2/28 :
*laughs* some of the neighbours that moved in during the cold season just saw me shorn/shaved for first time : "demn, he cleaned up good!"
2/X :
another cold Xth day of the month... when the warmest point of the day is barely above freezing and its not even 6a, you know you're in MN
2/X II :
"Got haircut?"
Nope - wind this mornin' just blew most of it right off
"Oh ... (pause)... heyyy..."
3/1 :
at this point in the presidential process, it comes down to who I would unquestionably NOT vote for: Clinton/N0bama2.0 - No. Cruz - Helsno!
3/1 II :
for those proclaiming you'll move to Canada if Trump wins - they remember you voted for N0bama... twice. they don't want you. Seriously.
3/1 III :
if you want a free education, would you be willing to earn it via military or gov'mt service ?
it'd be important education pre-education !
3/2 :
it seems that singing the lyrics of Welcome Home (Sanitarium) while working gets some... unusual looks
good to know >:)
3/3 :
suppose it's nigh time to pick two mid-month mid-week spans to request off 'fore Sept, knowing the chance of doing anything is slim to none
