@bloghomework Well, I wish I had a truly inspiring or horrifying Valentine's Day story, but I don't. I've been single every time since 6th grade. I suppose what I CAN share is how I used to celebrate the day at my former job. I worked as a cashier at the local college. It's a smaller school, about 2000 students, and only about 300 living on campus. I memorized their names every year. I was the first person they met in the cafe. I was there for almost every meal, breakfast, lunch and supper. I greeted them coming in, I said goodbye when they left. We created a bond that carries with many of them to this day. I had a list, with every students name on it that I had to check off as they came by. Which meal, which meal plan, how many they had left, etc. Any student group that asked me to buy things for their fundraisers, I bought. At least one group had a fundraiser every V-day. So I'd go through my list, and I'd pick my favorite students from campus. The ones that would interact with me the most, the ones I enjoyed working with for work/study in the cafe, the ones that were in the sorority that partnered my fraternity. Inevitably there were approximately 50 people on the list. For each one, I paid $1, filled out a form and a message, and waited for them to be delivered in the students mailbox. I worked there for 14 years, and did it every year. There's always a great feeling to be had in making someones day!
