as for the ex, i actually went through a very similar thing with my boyfriend last year. we ended up breaking up for a couple months, but then getting back together (he basically spent the 50-60$ every other week to come see me upstate on the bus, (he lives in the city). now he's gotten me to break out of my shell (i was terrified of NY), and now i'm moving to NY too. i don't know if this will help, but i just wanted to say,if you really love her, don't let it go if you can help it. it's a lot of work, but sometimes it works out in the end.
