WARNING - The following is very graphic and unpleasent but I gotta let it out.

Tonight when I was at work I was out doing a patrol (work security) and there is a woods behind the building I guard. As I walking in I heard horrific animal yelping, it sound like pain, just horrible. I kept on walking inside the building but my conscience got the better of me so I decide to see what it was. I went maybe about 50 feet into the woods (following the yelping) and I found this daschund with it's face cut up and it's belly cut open with it's intestines exposed and parital out.

I called my co-worker to meet me at the outside doors. I picked up the dog and put it's insides back in, the whole time it was yelping and whimpering and seem to be crying. I ran with the dog inside and went to the nearest bathroom (it's a large building, 3 floors, mutliply bathrooms) I was wrapping the dog's poor gut with paper towels as the other guard, called for help, but he didn't know who to call, either did I at 11pm at night, The police? He called our boss, all the while Im holding this dog to my chest trying to keep it alive with paper towels and water.

He died a few minutes later and I knew it was a very painful death for he never stopped yelping and crying out. At this point my white uniform was covered in blood and guts. I wrapped him up in my overcoat and put him on the floor then I went into the office and got chewed out by my boss over the phone for doing what I did, brining an animal in the building, blood, blah blah blah. At last he told me to just put it back and leave it alone and fill out a report. The dog had a collar, no name but he obviously had an owner, I suspect another animal did this to him, since coyotes have been known to live in that woods.

After my boss reamed me I went and put the dog in my car, and an hour later work was over. I took him home and buried him, I know it seems a bit sick and strange but I truly didn't know what else to do. Tomorrow Im going to call up animal services in that area and see if I can locate the owner. It was so bad and surreal the noises, the blood I paniced and try to save the dog but I was too late. I buried him under a tree, I just, it's all I could at that point. Im finishing this bottle of jack and going to bed, tomorrow need to order new uniform and try to find the little fella's owner, and the worse part I didn't even know his name. frown

i agree wholeheartedly with Amarena!

frown the story made me cry, but the fact that you gave that poor dog a measure of comfort in his last moments makes you a true hero in my eyes. and that you showed such respect for him even after he had passed, giving him your coat and giving him a proper burial is just as commendable.

your boss has his head up his ass mad

i can't imagine being in your shoes, but i did have to put my cat, who i had raised since he was about 3 weeks old, to sleep almost 2 years ago and i was brokenhearted for weeks. you need to take comfort in the fact that you did an amazing thing that, i'm sure, allowed that poor pup to pass feeling comforted and loved.

*hug* you're the best, kid kiss
