A New Lo-Jong

1
With the pure intention of attaining
Universal compassion and supreme wisdom,
I will constantly cherish all beings.

At each moment,
I will hold all others above myself
And worship their divine nature.

I will constantly examine the actions of
My mind, body, and heart;
When a delusion develops,
I will face it firmly and avert it.

Whenever I encounter beings acting out their delusions
I will remember, my vision is imperfect
And I will respect and honour them
And the lessons they can teach.

Even when I am being mistreated
Whether physically, mentally, or emotionally
I will transform my abuser, in my own mind, into my loving teacher
And always offer victory and accept defeat.

And even when those I have tutored
Or hold in the highest regard
Turn and viciously attack me
I will think only, "my wise teacher tests me".

I will see all beings as my loving mothers and beloved daughters
Secretly I will protect them and take on their suffering
Though I must release them to make their own way.

Even as these practices lead me to great power and understanding
I will hold to my lowly self
And find freedom from the bonds of illusion
