does anyone else have kids?

well, i have two teenagers, 14 and 15, girl and a boy.
they were adopted by my mother as infants and when she passed on i took over.

overnight i went from a carefree partying bachelor to being an irresponsible father. it has taken a while for me to get used to the role but i am learning that i am not going to let these kids get away with anything remotely close to what i got away with as a kid.

so, yeah i'm strict, but i'm also supportive and i want them to develop a sense of individuality without making major mistakes.

when they break the rules they know the consequences. my daughter went to her friends house after school yesterday, about 20 miles away and then proceded to take off and not call until 1:00 in the morning. she knows better.

now i have to be "mean" dad. that really really sucks.
