So, here's the recap of my first week of classes.
Now, a few semesters ago I wrote in my SG journal about a lil crush I had on a professor. I've NEVER had a crush on a professor, but professor Nina was too cute. I even put her in my "Current Crush" thingie.
Well, not only does she teach my "Senior Seminar in Media Research Class" on Mondays, she also teaches my "Mass Media in Modern Society Class" on Thursdays. This is both a good and bad thing. A good thing because it's nice to have a teacher I'm familiar with for two classes (I've actually had her TWICE before). She's very sweet, a good lecturer and a very fair grader. A bad thing because it's difficult not to daydream about making out with her during class and I get very nervous when she's talking to me directly. 
I also have my advanced film production class and radio production class on wednesday. I was a little bummed out because the students my film production class from last semester were all taking the same class with the same professor for this semester and I couldn't because I had to take a different class at that time. But I really like my new professor. I think I learned more about production that first class with him then my entire semester last year. But he seems like more of a harsh grader and I'm not quite as in love with the students in this class as I was with the students in the other class.
Now....my radio production class.....hrm. Well, lets put it this way the professor has never taught before, he works at NPR and we spent the whole first class listening to a radio documentary about the Fresh Kills landfill in Staten Island. Also, there is no requirement for a Pro Tools text book. This worried me the most. I thought in an audio production class, Pro Tools or some other audio equipment manual would be a required text. I'm worried we'll be listening to NPR type material the entire semester and that just doesn't look good on a resume of aquired skills.
The good thing is I only had to buy one textbook for the whole semester, so I spent my book voucher on some neat-o books I've been dying to read. It was wrong of me to do because teachers mostly only order enough for their class and I took the last copy of "Fast Food Nation"...tee hee. Now let's see if I find the time to read them.

have i mentioned i'm taking film 101 this semester
we watched the movie narc tonite. .
the problem with art type classes, is that the teachers are usually so . .umm. . passionate? about their medium, that's it just comes off as queso grande. .
everything means something. . yadda yadda , and then she shows us 'diggstown' . . and then discusses the color of the shorts that the fighters were wearing. .
i mean if you have to look that hard for meaning . . is it really worth it?
i think not. .
the teach' never even seen hedwig or whale rider . . .
she said narc was a better film than gangs of new york. . i've got 3 words to say about that . . bill the butcher. .
even though i live in california, not all of it is so metropolitan. . in fact, the closest 'film' theatre is 30 miles away . . which i'm sure she attends, and i'm sure she has alot of genre film history background, but she doesn't even have netflix!
she's so snotty . . i admit narc was flimed very well. . but it had a typical suspense drama ending. . which was basically disappointing, but that's not a knock, most movies like that do. .
but she goes on to say how the ending was so important because it materalizes the fact of "how far will you go for what you think is right' . . and i'm like . . well. . x-men does that too. . (and almost every comic book crossover movie out there) but at least you get to see new characters in those. .unlike narc. . where jason patric basically reprises his role in the movie he did w/ j j leigh . .whatever it was called. .
