A really good friendship is in the winding down stage. Probably the best friend I've had in the past 15 years. We have both changed a lot in that time, but for the most part I felt like we could count on each other. She has been more of a sister to me than the one my mom actually gave birth to. We have seen each other through death, divorce, many jobs, too many bottles of booze and 7 cars between the two of us.

But there is a distance between us now. Her divorce took a lot of her warmth and compassion away; there is a hardness to her that wasn't there before. I'm sure I'm different to her as well; I'm not able to be subjective enough about myself to see it, but I know it's there.

No answer, not even sure if there are questions. Just sad. One more thing gone from my life, one more thing to miss.
