The recent focus on Racism toward people of Asian descent has started a chain reaction that was long overdue.
The unreasonable expectation, the pressure, the stress and toxic shame that Asian people often feel in western settings is finally being glimpsed a little.
Fear, fear of losing ones place in the hierarchy of "almost" white minorities is a big factor in my opinion for why Asian westerners tend to absorb and not challenge the "Benevolent" Racism that is often directed at us.
It can also be exhausting being mixed.
I am often told "you're basically white." Or "You're not really Asian..." and a number of other challenges to my stated Identity.
Hopefully once Asian people start to speak up and call out the bullshit, then maybe we can stop being weaponized and utilized to invalidate Black and Indigenous Racial struggle.
The Model Minority Myth comes at a huge cost, now maybe people will see that.
