elixic:
Hey @lilydoll, I sympathize with your feelings of holidays, though I'm lucky enough to have gotten to spend some time with family, and so as requested I'll share some about it here for you; I was able to convince my son's mom to let him stay with me for two whole weeks, and since we work from home and he is doing remote learning, it allowed him, my partner and I, to quarantine for a full ten days without even going out to the grocery store in the days leading up to Christmas. The reason that is a big deal for us, is that we have some friends who are in the high risk category when it comes to Covid-19, and so we have not seen them since march, and we were able to go spend a few nights at their house the few days before Christmas. It was really super cool, and I was glad to be able to do it. To top that off, since we, and the friends we visited were all super careful, it let us feel safe to see my partners parents for out traditional Christmas Eve gathering. We did a zoom call with some other family from their house and even though it was a little weird and different than normal, we had a good time being able to spend Christmas Eve "together" and I really did love it!

I went to the Northern Territory of Australia! First holiday out of lockdown - there's a blog on my page about it. Also my cat got some new toys for Xmas, and is yet to use them... I hope you're keeping digitally connected with people too! Skype sessions etc.!
catdad:
{hug} I spent xmas day alone, though facetimed with my parents.  My ex-gf stopped by to chat for maybe an hour that night.  My dad sent the girls Flippity Fish to play with, but they have mostly ignored them so far.  I'm an introvert and really dislike all the normal social and shopping obligations.  Hang in there.  <3
tosty:
@elixic I love that sounds like fun family get together!
tosty:
@deesilvs  wohhh, did you see any cool animals? What kinda car toys?
tosty:
@catdad thanks for the hug 🤗 what is a flippity fish? I is also an introvert. Time is hard but it will pass.
deesilvs:
I saw kangaroos, wedge tail Eagles, camels... And heaps of ants! My cat got a window seat thingo and a scratching pad!
catdad:
It's a cat toy that looks like and flops around like a fish. :)  https://www.flippityfish.com/
tosty:
@deesilvs wohhh. I have always wanted to see a kangaroos ! Thingo help kitty see out the window? Super cute!
tosty:
@catdad awwe that must be super cute!
catdad:
It would be cuter if they played with them.  So far, they just look at them, even when they flop around.
deesilvs:
They're wild kangaroos! You can't get too close because they'll hop away haha. My cat hadn't used it yet so I'm trying to tempt her... :3
tosty:
@catdad have you tired putting cat nip on them?
tosty:
@deesilvs wahh kangaroos seem so cool. I hope she does 🙂
catdad:
They came with cat nip and have a little pocket for it.  Wily will bat at one of them a couple times a day, but just watches it.  I plan to try different cat nip when I need to recharge one.
tosty:
@catdad let me know how it goes ^^
catdad:
Celia and Wily occasionally attack the fish.  Celia mostly just watches if flop around, but Wily will sometimes engage more and keep swatting at it or pouncing on it.  I haven't tried new catnip yet, though.
tosty:
That sounds super cute!!!
