Im not a fan of 3D at all really, I hate the way the novelty hasnt worn off yet so lots of shots to 'show it off' are crowbared into films frown didnt realise it was annother post production 3D thing?? but sadly where I live 3D was the only option... not sure why, much prefer 2D right now.

I never saw avatar, I heard amazing thigs about the cinamatography but the story didnt appeal to me lol.

the trouble is that 3d's being pedaled like a cheap trick, and in the way it's being implemented, it is.
i can't stress enough how much you should see avatar in 3d, even if the story does not appeal, it's a benchmark in cinema history. i wasn't sold on 3d at all, or the look of avatar. it took me... maybe 5 seconds... and i was amazed. like i said, it's about adding subtle and realistic depth perception into the frame, very much like the way our eyes naturally see the world. it's not gimmicky when used like that. it's really good :-)

sorry, haha i just feel annoyed at the likes of clash of the titans, and the upcoming shitfests like res evil, who are tearing down good work.

i dont think I can see avatar anymore down here, will see what I can find but think I have missed it now. it does sound amazing from a visual point of view tho.

I havent seen the original clash of the titans so saw it as a completely new piece on its own which is going to make a big difference... tho as a rule i HATE remakes as they just butcher them on a whole, tho some are ok, the vast majority are terrible!

but then im more a fan of world cinema which you dont get in cinema's nearly enough x

yeah, rarely are remakes any good. especially these days.

i'm pretty partial to foreign fare too, we're quite lucky to have a lot of little independent cinemas around here that show it.

Jacques Audiard's Un prophte was my fave recently, awesome film.

I havent seen that? No one I know is really into forgin films like that so is hard to get recomendations... Im more into asian films.

ahh no probs, i'm into it all :-) i think Chan-wook Park is one of my fave film makers, oldboy and lady vengance, awesome. and thirst his newest is pretty good too.
just about to watch jeunet's latest, micmacs, hoping it'll be good. Amelie is one of my all time favourite flicks.
