Its been ten days since I moved into my parents place. I feel like an anthropologist studying a native people in their secluded village.

Anyhow, its been very strange being here. CNN is on all the time, there are so many butter cookies in the house, and my mom has three different type of denture fixatives. So, on Tuesdays my moms other old-lady friends come over to play poker. They use real money, albeit nickels and dimes, and they spend the afternoon getting drunk on whiskey sours and talking shit to each other. I had the rare opportunity this past Tuesday to sit in on one of these gatherings.
It started at 4:30 in the afternoon with whiskey sours all around, and a few hands of 7 card stud. Now, if you dont know how 7 card stud is played Ill explain. Everyone is dealt two cards face-down, then the next four cards are dealt face-up; one at a time after each round of betting. The last card is dealt face-down as well, and when this card is dealt it is referred to as Getting down and dirty.
Now picture this if you will; three drunk women in their late 60s, smoking pack after pack, and every 5 minutes saying Ok ladies, lets get down and dirty.
Oh my fucking god.
