This past Saturday eveing my friends and I went see Broadcast (one of Britain's finest groups of pop experimentalists) at the Majestic in Detroit. They were great! I had not heard of them until my friend Davecat told me about them. He said you like Sterolab and the yeah yeah yeahs, I said yes, so there you go. the opening band was a bit of a sleeper though, but that is to be expected from your gereric indie rock band opening gig. After the show, Davecat was jonesin' to get stuff signed so we hung out and waited for Trish, the bands frontwomen. She was very lovely and friendly and generally pleasent to meet.
As far as what I am doing this week for drawing, I picked up a bit of childhood nastalgia, The Masters of the Universe DVD box set, so much like sitting on my bed at age 8 drawing skeletor and Teela, I couldn't help but relive my youth and do some drawings now. I did a whole slew of Teela and Evilyn pics, because since 8 years old, unfortnately I have gone through puberty, therefore, I can't get enough of the chicks. However, I also did some quick pen and ink sketches of Castle Grayskull and Snake mountain, so I think I might do a finished peice with Teela riding Battlecat and standing on the bridge in front of the front door of Grayskull. If that goes well, I might do a sister piece with Evilyn riding Skeletor's battle panther (the name excapes me right now) in front of Snake montain. I will post the sketches on friday, so come back and check them out. I don't know why a hot chick skantly clad in some sort of fantasy vestments; riding some sort of exotic beast in front of a castle or big skull is soo damn hot, but I guess that's what Frank Frazetta and Boris Velajo have based their careers on and I like!
Yes, I clearly have become obsessed with things that use to make me happy. I have not abandoned Danger-man, but you know what it is like to be an artist, you kind of do whatever interestes you at the moment.
