Haha, I know what you mean. I studied Pollock extensively a few years ago and the thing is, his work isn't so much about the art itself, it's about the process of making it, the record of those specific actions that make it performance art (I know I sound like a lunatic). The guy who took the pictures of his stuff, Hans Namuth is almost as famous for that reason. He made a video of Jackson painting a pane of glass from underneath it, it's quite cool.

As usual I can't disagree with you but one of the factors I've found with drug/alcohol addiction in artists is self-medication of deeper mental problems. . . On that note Pollock should see a shrink asap. . .
