carrie is an awesome movie, saw it at the castro (where I also used to work) a couple of years ago when piper laurie who plays carrie's mom was there. she said she thought it was supposed to be a campy horror film until brian depalma said to her on the set one day that her acting was too over the top and was going to make the audience laugh the days when you could just show up at the bridge at midnight on saturday and get in are gone, that's why i got an advance ticket
the video for dancing in the dark cracks me up. back in those days when mtv was just starting, michael jackson's videos were so big that all the white rockers dudes thought they had to start trying to dance too, like bruce in that video (john cougar mellencamp did an especially howlingly funny one). back then everyone used to talk about how when he played that song in concert, bruce would pick a girl from the audience to dance onstage with him, and usually it was a nice normal girl, proving that bruce was a nice normal guy. of course in the video who did he pick? courtney cox.
