My prob isnt in someone being influenced by specific type of music or liking various music from before their time but creating (music, art, film) that has previously been said and done. I feel a great deal of things I see are emulated as opposed to folks just tapping the creative spirit and moving culturaly forward. I also find a great deal of bands that do emulate are pretty arogant about it. There obviously are personal exceptions. I really liked Man or Astroman (surf) and The Cramps (garagerock), Bad Dudes (prog) but these bands whilst influenced by older styles bring or brought something unique to the table as well
